midi problems

hi everyone i have a m-audio  oxygen 8 v2 keyboard and it is connected with a usb cable to my computer but when i play notes there is a 1/2 a second delay what am i doing wrong how do i connect it to the sound card can anybody please help
 
ps i am using music creator5

    it's called latency.  you probably are using your onboard soundcard, right?  if so, you'll need to consider upgrading your soundcard to reduce latency.

    check my website for some recommendations.

    in the meantime, you might be able to get it under control by downloading and installing ASIO4ALL (google it) and then changing your driver mode to ASIO.  OPTIONS>AUDIO>DRIVER MODE = ASIO click APPLY.
