midi singing human voice
Is there anything out there that lets you midi program a singing human voice? I sing really bad and am having a tough time conveying my ideas thru my demos to my singer. Yeah I could write it all down but I'd much rather have an audio presentation. Even if it sounded robotic, it would beat my awful crooning. Thanks

Easy. Go to control panel and select speech. Type in your lyrics, then record "what you hear" as it plays using pitch bend to tune. You'll be a rocking Hawking I didn't bother with the tuning, but this'll give you an example of what's possible with this Led Zepplin classic. Edit: Had to remove all files from my webspace to make room for a big file I'm uploading for a buddy. I think I've exceeded my alotted space.

Sorry to be such a jerk. You could always use an auto-tuner on your voice. I think there's one called V-Vocal or something that comes with Sonar5 PE...? Someone else can give you some non-jackass advise. Good luck.

That is absolutely THE best LZ cover I have ever heard! I loved it. Thanks for sharing. (seriously. that was cool).

I think Melodyne UNO will do what you want, but it's 200 bucks. I KNOW that Melodyne Studio will do what you want, but that's 700 bucks. But Geezers suggestion sounds great and it's free!

Lol that was halarious OldGeezer. Robert Plant meets Microsoft Sam. I tried V Vocal and it was too much work. I am that bad. Thanks for the info daniel5017. Thats very helpful. I will check them out. I read an article somewhere about a program in the works where every conceivable phoneme in the english language was recorded at multiple durations and pitches in order to create a sample library so that one could conceivably sing via midi. Cant remember where I read it or what is was called though.

Vocaloid looks like the closest thing to what I was looking for. $200. It will do a synthesized voice by inputing midi notes and lyrics. Quantum Leap Symphonic Choirs is $800 so I stopped right there. Melodyne Uno looks like V Vocal 2. You still have to sing and it corrects things. Thanks again

Vocaloid is rubbish. Not worth spending money on in my opinion. BTW You can get extra voices for the Microsoft Speech engine - e.g. download the demo of IBM Homepage Reader and it installs some nicer ones than SAM. But you can use them with Narrator (built in into XP) to read out your lyrcis from Notepad and maybe run them through V-Vocal for some tuning, stretching etc. etc.
