midi tack View->Event List bug...

Hi,

Not sure if its been reported before or not, here goes anyway - I'd like to see this fixed though in the next patch if possible...

If you have multiple midi tracks with midi data in it.  Select the first midi track in your project, right click and select view->event list.

The events for the midi track are displayed.

Now here is the bug....

Select the next midi track in your project, right click and select view->event list...

The events in the next midi track don't display, now unless you select another track and then return to the midi track again, then the midi track list will display...

What should happen is when you select the next midi track and right click and choose view->event list, it should display the events without having to select another track and then go back to the midi track again.

Cheers..
Jim

This goes waaaaaay back and is not likely to change soon. I suggest you just get used to using Tracks > Pick Tracks (or Previous/Next) to change tracks in the Event List. The update then is immediate. Alternatively, if you click the clip again to re-select it immediately after choosing View > Event list, the view will update.

Alex - I hadn't commented on your ongoing list of bugs and such, but thanks for building and maintaining that.

Good find on the bug, Jimmy.  As a keyboard player, I do midi tracks all day long, but only really look at the event list data infrequently, and don't ever recall having done so for multiple tracks one after another.

Cool that you filed it, as well - thanks,

    Thanks Bob and Jim!

Jim would you be able to confirm this is still an issue with X3E?

    Many Thanks...

Re: midi tack View->Event List bug... 2014/03/27 19:34:03 (permalink)
    Hi Alex,

yeah it's still the same - I guess they'll never fix it because in the track options you can click on next track or from the track options there is a Pick Tracks... you can then choose from the list of tracks you want to view the event list from...

It would be nice though to fix this as it simplifies and follows a more logical way of editing the track views where a project may have 2 or more midi tracks..

I'm sure it will be sorted eventually assuming it's gone through validation. Might not be that high priority though.

fwiw - just did it here in 3E  same result. I have never used this method tbh, as I select successive tracks within EL view itself. But the method outlined by the OP does indeed exhibit that behaviour.
