midi track appearing from nowhere?

I have been noticing this lately, and just saw what was causing it.
I I "drag" to select several tracks and move then as a whole things are fine.
If I "Control A" to select all tracks and go to drag them together, a new midi track appears.
Every time thereafter I drag these tracks it adds another new midi track.
These sessions are about 15 or so audio tracks.
I am on 7.2
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hmmm... that's good one. I am able to reproduce this with even just one track. Ctrl-A, drag the clip, and you get a new empty MIDI track. It's probably been reported already, but I didn't search the forum.

Edit: Works with a single audio track, too. A new MIDI track is created.

Glad to see it is not just my set-up.
    Anyone else?
    Any fix?
    Thanks

It´s magic... i can even create an audiotrack out of nowhere. Have a miditrack as track 1 with a clip and an empty audiotrack as track 2. CTRL-A then drag the clip and whoops: a new audiotrack appears as well as a new miditrack. Not a practical example, but funny anyway.

It seems the more empty tracks are in your CTRL-A selection and are dragged over with your clip, the more magic tracks appear.

Is this just a bug, has anyone ever came up with a "why?"
    Thanks

I haven't tried to reproduce it but could the behavior be altered by changing settings in the "what happens when you copy tracks" dialog box.

I too have seen this lots of times, but never took the time to hunt down the culprit.

Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Core i7 920, Asus p6td deluxe, Sonar X1c PE, Motu 2408 mk3, Apogee Mini DAC, 3x UAD-1, Digimax FS, Motu Microlite, MCU, Tranzport, Nocturn. And more...

Check out this related thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1274708&mpage=1

My last post shows a workaround for still being able to select all tracks and do what you want without creating a phantom track. Not a solution, but hope it helps.
