missing midi ports
I'm getting this message in setlist view...perhaps because sets were made w/a different unit ( I have 3 to choose from) BUT...I figured if I re-assigned the device & saved the set that Sonar would remember my choice...not the case - any ideas? example: message / missing midiman uno ( because I have Edirol hooked up?) so switch em out...put Uno on & then it asks for Edirol! I have 3 single shows in a row this month...many thanks

I dont think so...anyhow, I unloaded all drivers & still it asks for an edirol one for certain songs - I'm assigning the midi-sport then saving...so far I think it's working lol - lotta work ahead Thanks for reply & that link is bookmarked now!

diggerbarnz I dont think so...
That's what's so insidious about the MIDI port problem. "But I only have a few devices..." But if you plug into different ports, you get additional entries that Windows remembers.

Hi diggerbarnz. I use a couple of systems with different midi hardware as well. Unfortunately the midi port assgnments are stored when the project is saved so must be set individually as you have discovered. One thing that I have found very handy when switching midi or audio hardware us to make a copy of the configuration files for each hardware setup. The files to do this are AUD.INI (for audio setup) and TTSEQ.INI (for midi setup) located in C:\Users\<yourname>\App Data\Roaming\Cakewalk. I have a folder named for each hardware setup on my desktop containing copies of these two files and a shortcut to the above mentioned location. Rather than having to set midi and audio outputs and order when changing hardware you can just copy and past the appropriate configuration file to the original file location.

Thanks for that info tenfoot, I have had this issue as well and it's annouying to open old projects and be told over and over and nothing seemed to rid you of the message. So I'll try this myself next time.

It does save some time if you are switching between hardware setups Johnny. The limitation is that you must have any hardware listed in the configuration file connected. If you just want to get rid of message, assign any missing outputs to hardware that is present, but not using the annoying dialog that pops up before the project opens - it doesn't stick for midi (never has!). If you reassign the outputs once the project is open then save the file you will not see the message again. You can also use the control key when selecting an output to set all outputs to that hardware.

I think that's what I was missing.."but not using the annoying dialog that pops up before the project opens" - I was trying to work in setlist view - I'll have to open songs one by one then assign/save/& then add to new playlist - many thanks all
