mixing 1 acoustic and 1 vocal

Curious....
Mixing a song with 1 guitar and 1 vocal. How would you all best place these 2 tracks? Any verb techniques with or tricks within X1? 2 tracks recorded seperatley:
Guitar mic'd apx 12" out from neck and body... using Rode NT1A...Mono

Vocal using the same NT1A.. recorded separately. Mono

    Many ways to do this.
Roll off the lows on the acoustic but not much as you want to keep some bass on the guitar otherwise it will be too thinny.
A little compression that is taming the high notes -2db at most.
You could use a delay and get a more stereo effect on the guitar.
Pan so the two tracks are not fighting for the same space even make a copy and pan one 20 to the left and the other 20 to the right.
The same with vocals roll off below 100 and also around the 400 - 600 to make place for the acoutic guitar. Only -3db at a  time and listen. Around the 8-16kh  a little air to make it bright.
Again unstead of a  reverb on the vocals use a delay unles you have a very good reverb unit.
All out to a stereo buss and a a compression knocking off no more than -2db on the loudest parts.

Lots of ways to go here but here is one you can try.

Make 3 copies of the acoustic track. Low pass one down to 200Hz. Keep that in the middle along with the vocal.
High pass the other two around 300 to 400 and push them left and right. For some interesting sonics nudge the right side by 10ms.

If you need more ambiance then set up a couple of delays each one bouncing the opposite side of each Left and Right acoustic sound.

Depending on how things were tracked will determine how things need to be compressed. Can't recommend anything without hearing the track.

If you re-track the acoustic with two pencil mics 3:1, then there is another whole approach you can take but you stated you recorded with one single mic.

    Gear: A bunch of stuff.

Sounding good so far. Great advice
What are some suggested delay settings? I am using Waves Super Tap 6 on a aux and panning left and right for the 2 side acoustic HP tracks. A little struggle with the delay settings. Thanks
