I like your thinking thornton. Although your ears are the final, and only, decision makers, I do like to be able to see waveforms, EQ curves, compression graphs, and any other aids to seeing what a plugin is doing to my audio.
For me, it always helps to be able to see what's happening, the computer is such a great device for visualisation that it should be used as such at every opportunity.
