moving from X1 to X2 compatability questions

For those of us who have continually purchased and upgraded like the Cake Junkies we are, there are concerns on compatibility and upgrading:

1) Will we be able to just install X2 as an upgrade to our current setup, or do we have to save presets and projects, uninstall X1 and do a fresh install of X2? I have Producer Expanded and the upgrade path to get to this point sucked, not looking forward to jumping through many more hoops. Any word on how easy or not the upgrade would be? Details helpful.

2) Is X2 fully compatible with the V-Studio 700c? Any details on functionality here appreciated.

3) Do we need to reinstall all our ProChannel Plug-ins? I currently have all the Pro-Channel goodies, but reinstalling all of it would be difficult.

4) How about expansions to Cakewalk items like Rapture and Zeta, that have been purchased previously? Will these have to be reinstalled.

While I have seen things in X2 I find appealing, there's been a lack of info on the upgrade process and what should work out of the box. I am sure I am not the only one who would like reassurance on this before committing to the purchase. Any one who has been a X1 user and purchased above items is probably curious about migration.

If this has been posted somewhere already and I missed it, sorry.

I had the same fears but was assured everything should be okay. Your plugs and VST will all still be where they always were and I'd imagine if you can't find them at first a scan will remedy that. X1 project files will load properly in theory (layers will turn into take lanes, your automation should be viewable the old way or in lanes). If you already have the full versions of Dim Pro and Rapture you don't need to double up on them (custom install) but be aware that if you DON'T have the full version of Rapture X2 has an upgrade from the lite version. Expanded is now part of the included PC modules but if you have anything above expanded that you bought they should still be there. This is what I've been told/gathered in all the hubbub and official statements. However you can merely install X2 beside X1 (you can still use X1) and then test it all out for yourself. That's what I'm doing just to be safe (as are many others). The only problems that have been conveyed is if you try to use one of the new goodies in X2 and then try to load that project into X1 you won't have access to the new stuff... which makes sense. Cheers.

Wait... did you change your post? I thought it said it was your first upgrade. Oh my poor aching brain. Apologies.

    1. X2 is a completely separate installation to X1. You can choose when installing if you want your current settings from X1 migrated into the new install. There is no Expanded (it comes as standard with Producer) and no uninstalling is required
    2. No idea
    3. You will have to install any PC modules you've purchased separately to the stock ones shipping with Producer. These include the Concrete Limiter, the Leveling Amp and also the Softube Bundle. There might be one or 2 more, I'm not at my DAW so can't confirm.
    4. I know for a fact there are at least 2 version of Rapture - check under the properties page of the .dll in Win Explorer - the most current version starts, I think, with 1.2.2. Likewise with Z3ta - there's the stock version that ships with Sonar, and the updated one. Unless Cake are now supplying X2 Producer with the updated version, you;ll have to install it separately.

FWIW, I'm going to install absolutely everything that's included in the download, to be sure to be sure.

If you've already purchased via the Pre-sale, you'll find new serial numbers & reg codes in the "My Account" section

    Hope this helps.

Ah, I did miss that bit about it being a separate install.I guess that makes testing it out "safer".Thanks
I went through the whole upgrade thing with Expanded and the C and D patches, had a lot of issues and had to do a clean install and go through the update process again, not looking forward to the possibility of it.
Installing some of the modules again will be a pain.(Softube bundle)
I not only have Rapture upgrades, but additional libraries for the synths, a few of which were a real pain to get to work.

Just got my 700c set up and going the way I like it, would like confirmation on compatibility.

Thanks so far! I know I can't be the only one with worries like these...
