my lawnmower wouldn't start
So, I went to cut the lawn, and of course my lawnmower wouldn't start. Seems I have to clean the spark plug everytime I try to start it. Anyway, get out my socket wrench, take out the plug, clean it, put it back in. Then, notice my socket on my finger like a slide. So, instead of cutting the grass, I did this: Truck Drivin Man: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10453325

Tim....you're joking right? You just stopped what you were doing and went in and wrote/recorded this spur of the moment? Dude...lmao!!!!!! I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear...this is freakin' fantastic on all counts! All the instruments sound great, the guitar playing is off the hook...great vocals, mix is spot on.....this so needs to be shopped somewhere...like today! By far one of the best tunes I've ever heard on here with everything perfectly in place! LMAO! I'm sitting here smiling like I would be if Megan Fox just called me on the phone! This is absolutely brilliant Tim!!!!! That's some seriously incredible guitar playing..piano sounds great too! Perfectly accents the tune. Wow, I just can't say enough about this other than...thank you for sharing and I can't wait to hear how the others respond to this...just wow! -Danny

HAh! Thanks guys. Wow Danny.. quite the comment. I'm honored. Sorry, this is not an original but more of a standard at least in my mind. Been playin it for years. But really, that is the wrench socket on the guitar:) and that's sort of how it came about. Hadn't played slide in years and well, thought I'd give it a go. (I did cut the grass first though:) Yea Mike. 13/16ths. I had to go look, I have since bought a glass slide:) Thanks man. Thanks Mr. Jamz0r. Hey Gary thanks dude. Yea, me too. Like in the 70's maybe. Wanna play the solo on it er somethin? No BIAB...Hah. I gave up on BIAB about 10 years ago. Thanks. I would like to get the current version though. Thanks Gary gdugan. Glad you liked it.

Great happy tune. :) I'm a big fan of slide/steel guitar. On a side note ... is it one of those cheapy push mowers from K-Mart? I had one for trimming behind my lilacs (there's a joke in that somewhere) that I returned 3 times because I kept having to take the plug out ... turns out you have to have the gas tank full every time you start it. Who'da thunk?

Killer tune............love your vocals. The bass shook me right out of my seat<~~~but I love it. Question for you Timidi, how much of that is your playing or samples. "Just curious", your songs sound great. All I ever get to work with is Live recordings. It's a different beast. Tim

timidi Wow Danny.. quite the comment. I'm honored. Sorry, this is not an original but more of a standard at least in my mind. Been playin it for years. But really, that is the wrench socket on the guitar:) and that's sort of how it came about. Hadn't played slide in years and well, thought I'd give it a go. (I did cut the grass first though:) Ah, I thought this was one of yours. I still hold true to what I said though...this is incredible. I will admit that I was a bit sorry to hear this was a cover...but only because I didn't know and am not familiar with the classic stuff in this genre. I've been listening to newer country for about 3 years now and the station I listen to doesn't hit up the old classics at all. But whatever you did on this...whether they are samples or real instruments....you definitely have a great grasp on this stuff, Tim. I've listened to a few of your tunes before and felt they were all good...but this really grabbed me with that "total pro package" sound. I'm with Scoob on the bass....sometimes it lept out at me as maybe a little much in the low end area....but I liked it and think lowering it would make it lose impact. It's a GOOD type of low end that isn't ruining or mudding up anything. It just somewhat leaps out in spots where possibly a bit more compression or even a multi-band limiter on certain sections may have controlled it better. But it's nothing that detracts from the incredible mix and vibe you got going on here. Some tunes sound good with bass like that and this is one of them. I'm actually glad your mower didn't start at the time or we may not have had this great tune to listen to. Really loved your voice and guitar playing especially, Tim. I think you can hang with anyone doing this style brother. Question: What are your thoughts about the newer country where they seem to be combining rock in with it now? I'm really noticing lots of rock to almost metal sounding guitar tones these days and to be honest, I absolutely love this direction. Maybe because I'm a rocker that thinks actual rock artists are giving us garbage today which has forced me to listen to other genre's....but I just love this modern country stuff. When I heard the tune "She's Country" for the first time while driving, I almost drove off the road from air jamming and enjoying it so much. I just played on a song for a client that redid a Gary Gentry song called "The Ride" where they asked me to play hard rock guitar on. We're hoping it hits the major airwaves in the next 2 weeks if all goes well. The gal that did the song, Jess Meuse, is a really good singer and she has Gary and quite a few others behind her at the moment. So if you hear some rockin' guitar in a tune on the radio, it's me! LOL! Great job once again Tim...truly enjoyed this. -Danny

I like this. On one thing I would suggest though, in the intro. the lead seems to cut the length of the notes a bit too short, almost as though they are being rushed sounding, the start of them are on timing but the entire notes are a bit too shortened. I enjoyed everything else either way. "Who am I though, holier than though, I don't think so". You have a good thing going here, don't let others influence you too much, not even me because it's obvious you've got a lot of skills when it comes to making a good song. BTW: Whoever is dancing/or playing around on the intro on the lead, as I've heard you say in the past you don't interrupt the dance or some BS like that, tell them to relax and feel what they are playing. That pedal steel stuff is not all about QUICK this and that, it's actually moreso about feeling what the main verse line is about and complementing it. I reacon I said that all wrong, I meant well. Keep on dancing if that is what you want, if you wanna take a ride on the wild side and show some spunk, then take my advice. Either way, I enjoyed hearing this, no doubt it has potential but it just needs to stop being so quick. It needs more fluidity is what I am trying to say. Be Well!

Bub. Thanks. it's a cheapyy Toro from Home depot. Worked good for about 2 months and then downhill. There's no way to adjust the carb or mixture. Thanks Mr. Bayoubill. funny:) Mr. Frank. Glad you liked it. Thanks man. Thanks scoobie. er, Tim. The bass was a dim pro patch. I agree. it's probably a little loud. I played everything, except the drums are a combination of loops and midi. Thanks Rebel. Hey Danny. thanks. I went in and checked out the bass in the studio, and yes, appears a little loud. hmm, I'll try and bring it down like 4db (?) and re-post (maybe:) I sometimes have trouble with low end. especially from a soft synth (dim pro on this tune). Around what frequencies are you all talking about? Like in the 50-60hz area or the low mids? I love anything "country". I get a little tired of the cliches and the taint of capitalism sometimes. Especially the copycat stuff. But, all in all, country is the only genre where one might find a Gem anymore. There's a lot of great stuff out there. 3 chords and a good story rocks my boat anytime. Actually, they're migrating to 4 and 5 chords these days:) It's the only thing that's left of the art of songwriting. Congrats on "The Ride". That's great. I hope it goes well for you. Thanks Mike. Yea, got it mowed:) Hey Mr. Herb. Thanks. I guess we've both been down the same rusty path:) Thanks Freddy. Appreciate it. Thanks Heavy. I think what you picked up on is sloppy editing. Good ears. I had a bit of a problem cleaning up the rattle of the wrench socket. I think it is as good as it gets though for now. I agree about the fluidity. Thanks for listening

Hi Tim, thanks for the response. Nah, don't touch the bass level. Actually there are 2 ways you can handle this. One, just for the heck of it...try this for me first. Bring the tune in like you would master it. Throw a Sonitus eq on it and high pass at 75hz using a Q of 1.2. Problem solved. :) Or, do the same thing on the original mix on the bass track. You may need to have a bigger Q since it will be just the bass we are dealing with. If you want the bass to stay loud like it is, try a multiband limiter that will control 52hz up to 75Hz as that is what is leaping out the most. You're getting a bit of a push up to about 110Hz as well, but that's not striking me as a problem. None of it is really a problem like I mentioned...but if I were to curb or control it, the above is where I would start. Try the Sonitus on the master like I said first though...at least you'll hear what *I* consider enough of that low end...and see how it transfers on your system. Yeah we're pretty stoked about The Ride. Hopefully something cool comes out of it...but if not, I had such a blast doing it...I hope I get a chance to do more. I sure wish I could play slide and do some of that stuff you do. I try, but I need to put more time into it than I have to give...so I stick to being a rowdy rocker with a blues influence with a few Eddie Van Halen tricks. LOL! Best of luck to you too bro...and let me know how those little tricks work for you if you try them. :) -Danny
