ne1 know of a Roland D-50 / D-550 editor that runs in win7
So I have a Roland D-550 rack synth (D-50 synth rack). I have a bunch of sysex banks. I am looking for an software editor so I can load and custom build banks of patches I like. I have found a bunch of Mac librarian / editors but not much for PC and nothing that seems to run on Win7 32bit or 64bit. anyone know of one that is reliable? Is there a multi librarian / editor still out there that would handle Ensoniq ESQ-1, Korg M3R, Yamaha MOFX8, Proteus boxes and the Roland D-550 running on win7?? I have various hardware synths and don't use them much because patch handling is sort of a pain right now.

What version of Win 7 do you have? If you have Win 7 Pro you may be able to run some of those librarians in emulation mode.
The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better. Well, I have 3 music computers, 1 has Win 8 x64, 1 has Win 7 x64, and 1 has Win 7 x32. I will try things out on all and see what happens. I also have all of the EMU Proteus sounds for both Dimension Pro and for Kontakt, and I have an old EMU X 3 and Proteus VX set of discs that I could try to resurrect. I may check some of it out this afternoon, but I got sidetracked by the thought of trying to find something that would play the old D-50 and/or D-550 sounds from way back in the 80's. I don't feel like spending $400-$500 to buy a used D-50 these days, but would like to know if there is some sort of soft-synth version of either that is either low-cost or even freeware. IF I can find something like that, I am quite sure there are ZILLIONS of free sounds out there I could download and drift away, back to 80's bliss........ Bob Bone

By the way, I DID manage to find versions of ALL Yamaha DX-type sounds that had been converted for use in NI's FM7/FM8, and there are tens of thousands of those - quite remarkable, actually. Bob Bone

How about MIDI Quest. I've got it and it does all that: https://www.squest.com/index.html This was actually mentioned above for the Protei - but it works on all those instruments you mention including the D-50. I should mention that I have gotten into the various Proteus 2000 hardware modules and ROMs lately and have been having some problems getting MIDI Quest to work right. Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Oberheim has never been a problem.

Very cool. thanks guys. I will definitely check these links and apps out. I have win7 pro and 32gb ram. I did try and run a few of the generic d-50 editors I found and they would just not run. I will play around. My Yamaha MOFX 8 has it's own vst editor so I am set with that one and use that as my main controller now. The D-50 rack I have managed to send sysex whole banks to the D-550 but it doesn't help much when you want to build a best-of bank. MOTU used to have something called Unisys that was sort of a universal editor for LOTS of devices, but MOTU doesn't list it anymore and it was $399 which is WAY out of my price point for a librarian editor. There are a bunch of editor / librarian appz for mac in the low $20/$60 price point but was having issues finding PC Win 7 apps. anyway I will report back what works and what I find out. thanks again for the links.
