need help using a MOTU 828 mkII and Sonar 7 ...

I'm using a Mark of the Unicorn 828 mkII Firewire audio interface with My Sonar setup on a Win XP quad 2.67ghz machine with 4 gigs of RAM, and need some help tweaking the buffers and things like that ... I need some optimization help.

The symptoms I'm experiencing are when I use a sampled drumloop, there is a NOTICABLE pause before the loop actually starts again.  (To clarify a little ... if the loop is 4 measures long and repeats twice it starts at 1 and goes through 4, then starts again at 5 and goes through 8 - but there is a pause when Sonar reaches measure 5.)

Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you !

That's strange.  Can I assume your sampled drum loop is on your hard drive and not being read from a CD?

That just doesn't sound like a buffer setting to me....otherwise you'd probably have problems DURING the first four measures.

Is this a DAW dedicated machine, or is it used for other things as well?

Are we talking about a stereo sample of a drum loop in a .wav format?

Are you sure there isn't actually a pause at the beginning of your loop?

Tell us...sampling rate, bit rate, etc.

Skull's right: this has nothing to do with your MOTU interface.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
