I've never heard a "tube sim" that sounded like a tube. One example, the Peavey TubeFex and the TransTube Fex. The TubeFex used 12AX7's in the preamp. The TransTube Fex was solid state and supposedly made to emulate and act like tubes. The TransTube Fex didn't really sound like a tube - no contest.

Tube sim. A tube simulation as in digital simulation of modeled tube amps. this AMP-1 does not have tubes in it, it's modeled simulations of tube amps. in a small box. I like it I just don't know if the limitations of this box warrant a $799 price tag when there are other boxes that do similar things. 11 Rack, Line 6, Roland BOSS etc. are all cheaper. While not great at simulating tube amps they are decent at a lower price point. I'm not sure what Nanotube is. seems like a small tube to simulate or get up to 100 watts. maybe I'm just missing stuff in the translation - the site is a bit confusing to me. I see 4 settings for tube simulations. $799 is a lot of money. maybe it's totally worth it as 1 real tube amp would cost that. I just don't know.

at 799,
i think if i was going to spend that much on a "4-channel" amp, i would probably throw another 400 into it, and get a mesa Mark 5:25 but for a guitarist that wants to just SIMPLIFY their rig, and make it as small as possible, this thing is intriguing. still WAY cheaper than a fractal audio or kemper modeler....and then you STILL have to amplify it, and have a speaker that works full range....
this, you could just plug into your favorite 1x12 cab, and go to town. i just can't tell if i like the way it sounds or not, until i can actually get my grubby mitts on one.....

Not the clearest of information is it. Using the power of clicking things, I have found the following total guitar review (pdf): http://www.jhs.co.uk/reviews/Bluguitar_Amp1_TotalGuitar14.pdf So, solid state analog pre-amp, valve power stage. The TG review is very positive, so might be worth checking out.

ston So, solid state analog pre-amp, valve power stage.
It says "valve- driven" output stage. I take that to mean there may be a tube before the output stage (and running on what voltage ?). There's just no room for transformers and filters needed for a real tube amp, let alone output tubes of the 100w variety. I'm really sceptical about what is being claimed.

and....and...nanotubes. LOL. interesting idea. I think I'm gunna pass. I would rather up the price and get the Line 6 Helix and have way more options if that's where I need to go.

YEA, i think the idea behind this amp, is to LIMIT the options to 3 or 4 good presets simple and straightforward.... and from what little i've heard from this and another vid (in german) sounds like the way the drive section and the EQ section work, is that it is transparent to the sound of your guitar........ in other words, it does not try to 'impart' it's own sonic fingerprint on your guitar's sound, it simply gives it whatever level of gain, treble mids and bass you dial in, and that's it.
