This is REALLY a powerful tool in harmony creation! Just started really using this lately instead of Harmony Engine EVO and the quality of the pitch algorithm is obviously better. The ability to have the plugin actually create the harmonies instead of just processing in parallel is a songwriters dream.
There are some issues with Sonar specific to correctly detecting pitch and position when you drag the clip into the interface. It will put the clip WAY out of range. A workaround, for now, is to choose the 'arranger' tab and manually drag the clip to the right spot.
From there you hit the harmonize button and you have a huge variety of harmonies and scales to play with. I've discovered that since it relies on the clip that you drag into interface, it works better if you make a dupe of the track and pitch correct that first before dragging it into the interface of the plugin.
I've been corresponding with Tim on the Zplane forums about the issues with Sonar and he has been incredibly responsive so far so I am hopefully they will get resolved so that other Sonar users can benefit from this killer tool!

[ Update ] Tim, from Zplane says they are aware of the position detection errors in Sonar and are working to resolve them. For any of the Sonar users out there, are there any stability differences between the demo and the regular install that you've noticed?

Featherlight - just curious are you using Melodyne too.
If so what are you thoughts - I know melodyne is more pitch correction and you can shape vocals and harmonies. V2 does seem to be simplier creating the harmonies...

I have been looking for a software equivalent of the TC Helicon VoiceWorks+ for a while and this seems to have the harmony functions. One possible issue: I watched a tutorial at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZA_XmOwlCQ There were constant clicks and pops. Is there a problem with Vielklang quality and does it add artifacts? Or was this just some messed up PC settings used by the demonstrator? Other questions: • Are the harmonies all going to be output on the same track in Sonar? I would not want that. • In the demos, the harmonies are a little quiet. If they can be sent to separate tracks, no problem; otherwise, I hope there is a way to edit that without a kind of note by note blob edit. • Is this any better than cooing a vocal track and using Melodyne to shift the pitches? I would never use the automatic harmony function anyway as I would want to control the parts. Thanks.

SO Joey, why did you buy it before trying the demo? I'm just downloading it now and will give it a go tomorrow. $169 Can is a lot of money for an app. It would certainly get me a TC Helicon for that kind of money. I usually do just sing my harmony parts. I might have to tune them if they clash with the lead. I used to use Vari speed to make them sound like another person. Not sure how that works with Sonar now. I never tune my lead, well rarely. I have yet to use Melodyne because I'm to lazy to go through the registration..I'm still using Vvocal. and Antares. I would think it would be cool to clone your lead track and use Melodyn to move the notes to a harmony line. But that's a lot of painstaking work when there are footpedals that do it brilliantly in real time. So lets see what software has to offer, Looks like it's done downloading.

I have Nectar 2, but not used the harmony feature a great deal. I have not used the MIDI functionality at all, or tried to capture the harmonies it creates (so not sure if it even can). IMO, Melodyne is a better tool for this functionality, since I prefer to put harmonies in their own tracks with their own effects; plus can pile them on till the cows come home to create full choir effects. That said, Nectar 2 is a very powerful plug-in for vocal work and is significantly more capable than Nectar Elements due to the additional effects chaining/capabilities it has. The Pitch Editor and Breath Control included with the Production Suite version are not overly useful tools to me, but Nectar 2 itself has gotten a lot of use.
