new interface...do i need to uninstall the old one first?

I just ordered a Saffire 40 to replace an M Audio 410. Do I need to uninstall the 410 or just install the Saffire? (I don't plan on using both, rather replacing the 410), my only worry is that if there are problems I would like to be able to revert back to the 410 as I am right in the middle of some different projects. I am running Sonar 7 Producer. Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I had a similar conundrum a couple weeks ago. The answer seems to be no... you do not have to uninstall the old device or it's drivers. Just install the new interface and it should be detected by Sonar. Then deselect the old device in your input/output options and select the new interface's inputs and outputs. It worked for me. However I am using X1 so I cannot say if it will work exactly the same for you. Good luck.

If it is a PCI ( PCIe) card yes, If it is a USB interface no. You just cannot use both ASIO interfaces together, Just turn off the one you don't need. Sonar will detect and use the one that is active.

@Cactus... Do you mean if they are BOTH PCI or PCIe? My old card is PCI and the new one is USB. I just had to deselect the old one and select the new one in x1. Seems to be working fine.
