new to sonar, metronome problems

i am trying to use the metronome sonar has, i set the tempo i want and chose"metrnome during record" i would have thought this meant it plays the metronome while you record but it is actually recording the metronome with my music. I am recording a guitar with a microphone that feeds into my Echo MiaMidi card's input jack.

to deal with this i just recorded a whole track of the metronome that i could just play along with. upon recording track 2 (the guitar) i realized it is acually stil picking up the metronome while it records (much lower volume but its there). how is this happening. i checked to make sure it is not picking it up from my headphones

what am i doing wrong

It could be a simple routing problem. Make sure your metronome is routed to your master bus.
Are you using the audio or midi metronome?

You are probably set to "Record what you hear" disable it. its in you sound cards control panel.

In the unedited Normal template, there's a bus for the metronome directing it to the Sound Card and not the Master, to avoid having it recorded with a take.  But people using game cards instead of good audio cards intended for recording have to deal with the "Record what you hear" default, like in SoundBlasters.
