newbie! Tempo change for only one midi track?

Hey guys, totally new to Sonar and getting started with playing with loops. I want to change the tempo for all the loops except for one that is giving a kind of melody to the project. When I do the Insert Tempo Change, it double the tempo for all the tracks. Can I double the tempo for the rhythm tracks and leave the melody track uneffected by the change? If so, how?

Thanks for any help! I'm running Sonar 4 btw.

    Welcome!

No, that's not possible with Sonar. The concept is strictly linear, any tempo change applies to all tracks. Also you cannot loop a region of one track while playing the others linearly.

Not sure about it, but I think Project5 can do this. You could have a look at EnergyXT, which is a host/sequencer and can be used as a plug-in in Sonar (and even in itself). Pretty powerful and cheap.

Hi Werner... maybe iguitaround is talking about AUDIO loops (i'm almost sure he does ... loops = audio loops in this case, iguitar? )

so i don't think he really means having a project with a different tempo for each track.. Tempo is global and should be this way..

i think what iguitar needs is some more time/info/manual reading regarding loops and time stretching

    This is certainly true!

I was talking about .wav files I have that I'm looping in my project. Basically, I would like to take one .wav file and play it double time. Is there a way to do this without a global tempo change?

I'm not at home right now,
so I can't detail the procedure,
but there is a way to change the spacing between your midi notes,
    effectively changing the tempo..

    Tomek.

Audio loops? You've doubled the tempo but need one loop to be at 1/2 speed? Double click on that loop to open the loop editor and change the number of beats to 1/2 of what now is. Voila.
