"newbie or oldie"

Hi Everyone
I purchased music creator 2003 in 2003.
I had never used any music software, & still do not understand the terminology/language.
I have not had any success with this program at all.
The reasons being either ----
1/ I am an idiot
2/ The program is faulty
3/ My computer is faulty
4/ My computer & the program are not compatable.
5/ I have not set up the program properly.
6/ My Roland E-28 keyboard is not compatable.
7/ Reasons beyond my level of comprehension & understanding.

I do have about 6 recordings of the quality that I expect, but many,many attempts since 2003 kave returned nothing but jumbled garbage, not true to life sound.
I have given up on many occasions for a month or 2 but I keep coming back to the program hoping that I will have success.

I did join a forum soon after I bought the program because I was having problems, but after being humiliated by experts who knew it all but wouldn't believe I couldn't understand what they were talking about,
I retired gracefully.
I don't want to be an expert, I just want to record & play my music, with what I was led to believe was a simple program.
Any help would be appreciated.

    We would be glad to help but need some more information, like what is the exact problem, how is your keyboard hooked up, and what are you trying to do. Also it really helps if you tell us what your equipment is, such as sound card, computer, and speakers. Don't give up yet, I was terrible at this until guys like Robo, Greg, Joe, and others helped out

    setup is everything, make sure that the system is setup for music, find the basics tutorial on THIS forum and follow it completely, then give us a list of the equipment you have. ram, OS, CPU, sound card, how everything is attached, give all details, also explain your process and methods, and what is wrong, we will work with you as best we can, remember we are not paid, so it is a labor of love, so be patient and also do your homework. Let's roll up our sleeves and get ready folks

    Hi Guys.
    Thanks to "Robomusic" & his direct contact with me, & a study of previous postsings, I did find the help file for new starters & it has helped me get back on track.
    I did send Rob my system information and an idea of what I am trying to achieve. I also attached a sound file to give him an idea of my standard of keyboard ability. I hope he got the information.
    Is it possible to transfer a sound file to the forum? I am still experimenting with my new-found knowledge. If anyone wants the complete System information, I have copied this from the computer, (it is a rather long txt file) please contact me direct -

    I did not get the file, what format was it? sound files are hard to send unless compressed. as far as system info all we need is that important stuff, like ram amount, CPU speed, OS, sound card, and method od recording, and how attached.

    that is a bad case of TMI!!

    All we need to know is the amount of ram, the CPU Speed, the OS, the sound card and the method of inputting the music, simple info, not a readout of the system, I did gather from that you have a SBlive, and XP, service Pack 2, and I think 512 K of ram.

    From there I can suggest some settings, make sure that the sampling rate in MC is set to 48,000 htz like the sb live is, and make sure that the soundcards mixer levels are around 75% and then make sure that when you record that you get good clean levels that stay away from the red.

    Keep with it dont give up and don`t be intemidated by folks who know so much, they forget that some people just want to have some fun and may or may not be masters of the CP recording arts. Keep asking and trying and soon you will be having a BLAST!

    Hi Loving Music.
    Thank you for your encourgement, however I am still having the same problem. Advice from Robomusic suggested that I go to options/audio & highlight SB Live as my sound source for both input & output.
    I did this, then following advice went to options/midi devices & select & highlight SB Live as both input & output.
    I have a choice of output but I only have Midi uart as the input.
    Maybe I'm missing something.

    That is the midi input driver for the card, so it would be the correct driver. try that, and then make sure that when you use your midi keyboard that the channels are the same on the keyboard and the MC midi track
