none of my softsynth tracks will export with their appropriate track names

they all come out as:

"session name"Maschine 1 Maschine Out 1_Maschine Out 1 R_ Stereo-7
and
"session name"Nexus 3 Primary Output_ Stereo-10

leaving me to have to manually figure out which one is which and rename all the files.

er why? never had this problem before. If i rename a track 'chorus lead' it should bounce as 'session name' - chorus lead.wav

?????

    Hi, Perfectprint

Why are you exporting your soft synth tracks?  If they're part of one project, just bounce them down so they stay inside the project.  Before bouncing, name the synth's audio tracks according to what's on them - that way the bounced track will be titled "session name - blah dee blah," just as you want.  I think you're only titling the MIDI tracks instead of their audio tracks.  You still need to re-name them, but at least you can see what's what and edit out the "session name" opener, so you end up with "Guitar 1" "Bass" etc.

you are right, the track title seems to be referencing the MIDI track. To clarify, this is a simple instrument type track I am talking about. I dont ever recall having a problem renaming it and exporting it to that name in the past.

Bouncing down by freezing the synths is just creating unnecessary wave files, and changing the status of the track and synth. Right click to 'split instrument track' is the only way i have found to reveal the track name I need to edit (cluttering up my session a little, but providing a reasonable solution).

I am wondering if the way simple instrument tracks operate have been slightly changed recently with any of the updates. I posted a day or so ago about noticing upon inserting an vst as an instrument track, the Inspector is displaying the MIDI channel control strip, and not the audio strip - which for me it has done so 100% of the time in the past. Why are they favoring MIDI and not audio all of a sudden?

Any synth users noticing this? Open up a synth as a simple instrument track and see if the midi tab is the once selected on the inspector (I).  Id like to know if it just my system or a universal change.

Just updated to 245 and now noticing that simple instrument tracks open with the audio tab selected on Inspector BUT the left hand portion of the display is showing the MIDI strip. The right hand portion displays the audio send strip. Clicking the already selected audio tab at the bottom brings back the audio strip to the left hand display.

    anyone confirm this buggyness?

IMO, it makes sense, since a MIDI track is a container of control data that are routed to a synth. Until those data are made final and bounced to an audio track, the synth itself may change a number of times. If you also use hardware synths, having those data show like the output of a software synth while sequencing seems wrong somehow (it does to me, at least).

Perfectprint, I was looking over this thread again - And I still don't understand why you're exporting your synth tracks.  You said that bouncing creates unnecessary audio files - but you're making the same number of audio files by exporting--so--?

What you're talking about here is something I don't deal with since I don't use simple instrument tracks, it works best for me to see the audio tracks and the MIDI tracks separately.  When they're no longer needed, I clear the screen with the track manager.

The only time you have control of the naming of an audio file is if you name the track before any audio is recorded to the track. At that time the resulting audio wave will bear the name of the track otherwise it will be a number generated by SONAR appended to the project name. If you manually rename an audio file you'll have to let SONAR fiond the file/s again on opening the project.

it's been like that for a long long time in SONAR. Asset management is an area where SONAR needs some major improvements.
