odd sound at the beginning of playback

Some time ago I remember seeing a post where someone was experiencing a problem with a strange sound coming at the beginning of playback. The sound in question almost sounds like X1 forgot to play the very last sound on the previous playback and so decided to throw it in at the beginning the next time i play the song back.

I seem to remember that the solution related to a setting for sonar relating to reverb tails or some such. I have tried searching the forum and the help but cannot find what I am looking for.

any suggestions anyone, many thanks

Make sure you've got "Play Effect Tails upon stop" checked.

You're right, it is a buffer being dumped of leftover data from the previous playback.

As Jonesey noted, you can often avoid this by telling SONAR to go ahead and finish playing any reverb and delay tails after stopping playback. Most of the time, this will empty the buffers. There are some effects, though, that insist on hanging on to that buffered data regardless of that setting.

The workaround is to leave silence at the front of the song (which most of us do anyway) and hit playback for a second to flush effects buffers. You only need to do this prior to bouncing, freezing or exporting so it's not that big a deal.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    I get that too.

I sometimes also get the first note muted when playing back. I have to hit PLAY several times before it will play it right.

And then when I hit STOP it will replay the last note again.

ive been cracking my skull trying to figure this out.
in my case it is only midi that this happens to.

and its only with a drum machine.when i hit start it plays a random beat.
but when i save the project/close it/re open it/its gone.

going to try this and see if it works

    Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
