ohm studio
came across this, its still in beta but i would love to see cakewalk and the rest of the DAW manufacturers do this, so much potential for getting **** done, seems like a good community on there too http://www.ohmstudio.com/

Maybe it's just me but I don't see any real great advantage to that over SONAR and using Dropbox.
Did I miss something really important?

its more for the "real time" collaboration Bapu, i think its a wicked concept, i mean, my self personally, i work a lot with a friend in l.a and we use our friend's server in n.y for exchanging audio files !!

OK, real time might be an advantage if you consider that akin to getting all your members in the studio at the same time. That gives The CHB about 12 minutes a day where we're all available at the same "real" time. Might not work for us.

Bapu a kid i know invited me to work on his project on the site, if you have the same plug-ins you can really get down, if not then you freeze to hear what is being played i.e i dont have the nexus so he freezes the track for me to hear the sound, you can chat all the way through the project, tweek plug-ins that you are loading in as well, like we both have the sylenth, and can tweek the preset or what ever, good fun i must admit

It's a cool thing to intergrate like that easily. I just don't think it's a new concept and we've kinda been doing this all ready awhile especially the pro engineers

your an anxious little guy. I dunno -- off the top of my head .. ive used drop box and worked in real time over the phone with a friend of mine in Vegas .. i am not pro so I dunno -- at my old job I used to work with my boss in real time if I didnt know how yo crunch numbers over the phone AND him remotly showing me on my computer my new V control lets me move stuff around on sonar on the ipad remotley like having another mini screen all I am saying is this TYPE iof thing isnt new - its cool if you like it all intergrated on a DAW -- nothing wrong with that ... I am just not interested

Bub its more a question of real time or off line lol no doubt you know that anyway ha

here's a project am working on with a kid i was lecturing at college, its his project, and we can add audio, softsynths the lot in real time (again lol) and you can see it all happeining on screen and the interaction is wicked, am not saying all rpoduction should be done like this, for collaboration, with EDM or mixing in general, i think its a good thing !!! Cool idea.
Exactly. It may not even be innovative but to major in the area of online collabs is going to appeal to a definite market. It has major implications for educational purposes. Imagine being in on a mixing session with many others while some icon from the industry goes through a mix session on your own DAW, or a top sound designer tweaking your synths in front of your eyes. Every DAW on the planet is now capable and most are even over specified on todays hardware for producing the goods to a professional level so going forward it's these kinds of features that will be the deciding factor in the market. Communication bandwidth is improving all the time so it's a growth area for sure.
