ok, like I'm a 2yr old - Setting up BCF 2000 in Sonar X1/Win7

Anyone got a step by step guide? I know there was one for previous versions of Sonar up through 8.

Many thanks!

The earlier setup instructions are pretty much valid for Win 7 and X1 onwards as well. MIDI device and Control surface setup are now all part of preferences though.

Yes, follow FBB's guide - it worked for me, with the following additions:

If you are still not seeing the controller after following those steps:

    1.  Make sure you are using the native windows drivers, not the Behringer ones.  Not certain about that tbh, but that's how I got it working.
    2.  Have the BCF in Sonar Mode, switch it on before launching Sonar.
    3.  Launch Sonar and create a new, blank project
    4. Connect the controller as a midi device
    5. Connect the midi device as the Mackie control surface
    6. Save the song (I saved as 'BCF Template').  You may still find at this point you just see the 'connecting...' message for the controller.  Don't worry...
    7. Quit, restart Sonar and load up the song you just saved.
    8.  With luck the controller will leap into life.

Now, for a whlie I had to load that song up first whenever I loaded Sonar.  Once connected though all is good.  Once you've created, saved songs using it though the connection seems to be maintained, even after switching off the BCF.

The BCF won't wok with pro-channel yet though, but the main modes, including sends work as they should. It's a fantastic piece of kit and makes me smile each time I use it!

I thought it should be in Mackie Mode? No?

Ask Mommy. Just kidding gear. Are you using Mackie Control? It depends on what you're using. State some specs and people will be able to help you.

I think Wood67 is referring to "Sonar Mackie Mode" as opposed to some of the other Mackie modes such as Cubase that are included as BCF 'modes' or presets.

thanks - do you have that link to the previous instructions? I used those to set up the BCF on Sonar 8 (but can't find them), so haven't set it up yet in X1.

    thanks again!

There's links to Blades's tutorials in the BCF guide I wrote. That can be found HERE

On his site they are under the "Specific Topics" link

Yep, just to clarify the BCF should be in the MCSo (Mackie-Sonar) mode in my step #2.

    Did you get it working?
