one layer at a time playback?

Can SonarX1 play back one layer at a time as it loops through the section that has just been recorded?

I've got a dozen or more lead pieces and I'd love to hear them consecutively without having to mute and solo one at a time.

Not that I'm aware of, but here is what I do:

I have clip mute bound to 'Q' (just like sonar 8.5 had it). Loop the section and then quickly select the last clip then 'Q', select new clip and 'Q'. So I quickly mute and unmute the clips.

I don't use the Mute and Solo from within the track layers, because there's no hotkey I'm aware of to make it quick.

Hope that helps. This works the best when vocal comping especially.

I have a tip for easy soloing of layers but it uses click lock which if you aren't used to it can be fiddly to use. I use it all the time so have no problems and a side effect is a real easy way to solo layers.

    1. Set click lock to on with your preferred length of press to lock (Windows->Control Panel->Mouse)

    2. Click on the layer solo button and hold to activate the lock then release the left click.

    3. Now simply roll the mouse anywhere on a layer to solo that layer.

    4. Click again to deactivate.

I use it all the time but appreciate that click lock isn't for everyone.

Weird, I'd never heard of click lock before. I'll have to play with it.

Basically it's a sort of click & hold. You click the left mouse button and after you've held it for your preset time the click is locked down. Some people just can't get on with it but as long as you remember to click again to cancel it's ok.

I've just got used to it - goes back to when I first started using a trackball and I've just carried on now I use trackpads.

    thanks for the ideas guys.

I don't like clip lock but I can see how if your used to it then it would be useful.

The q mute thing seems to be useful, and a method I'll try.

    thanks again :)

I think in X1 the Mute key is "K" by default ....
