one small clue poise drum vsti multiple outputs? and crash.

i just bought sonar and im getting some crashes. i use poise drum sampler, and 1. im not sure how to connect multiple outs, 2. it crashes (audio has dropped out expectantly) when switching outputs. if this is so, then how do i use multiple outs with poise as i think i may be doing it wrong.

The easiest way to insert a VSTi with multiple outputs into a project is by checking the appropriate options in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog. Checking the "MIDI Source" and "All Synth Audio Outputs: Stereo" options will insert the synth with all the outputs available into the project.

As far the stability, it would be helpful to know more about the DAW. I believe the plug-in is 32bit only.

wow. these boards must be packed. you replied to me in 10 minutes. no its now 64 bit and stable. i did what you suggested on all synth audio outputs but it only makes one. however i read on the one small clue forum that by typing '16 out' in the dll it makes all 16 appear. and that does work because i tried it. i was just wondering if its normal for sonar to drop audio when a plugin changes the out internally due to how sonar was designed.

They need to update their website, it lists the plug-in as 32bit only. If the plug-in changes it output configuration after it is instantiated I would not expect SONAR to pick up the change automatically. To take advantage of multiple outputs, try using the fixed output configurations as detailed on page 4 in the Poise Manual pdf (i.e. rename the poise dll).

hey guys. i got it now. it seems the problem was that if you load poise, and try to route poise to another output sonar drops the audio as it doesn't have an output that it recognizes anymore. however one you add the 16 out and add samples to the second sample slot the the output becomes available that being output 2 (where before it was greyed out and only listed output one) then you can just add outputs 3-16 and it everything works great.  thanx for your help.

ok so this is normal?if you try to change an output in x3 once a plug is loaded sonar will drop audio?

Here is my guess as to what is happening with the plug-in. The Cakewalk VST scanner only sees support for one stereo pair and sets the number of outputs accordingly. This can be verified by checking the Outputs value on the plug-in properties details page. To see the page open the plug-in UI, click "Plug-in Properites" on the VST menu, then click the Details button on the VST Plug-in Properties dialog. It may be the vendor expects users to rename the plug-in to make provision for more outputs.

If the Outputs value is greater than 2, then make sure when activating outputs in the plug-in, audio tracks are added and mapped to the appropriate synth outputs.

Are you using Poise 2 ?

I just went to their site to download a demo and I couldn't choose any outputs although when I chose
"All Synth Audio Outputs" I got 16 outputs.
I saw This Video where he says you can assign each pad to separate outputs but I don't have that option.
The reason being I've found is that the demo I just downloaded is V 1.5 and NOT the version 2 that he's using.

Anyway, that was why I asked as it seems you can only do this with version 2 although I'm confused as to why sonar would give me 16 outputs if they're not there ?

1.5 too. you have to make copy of poise dll and rename the copy, (Poise 16 out.dll) once you do this, and add poise with all outputs option all 16 outputs work great. there is no version 2 though. not yet. the developer shannon is extremely responsive though. and works very hard on poise but hes a one man company so its a bit slow getting new feature updates, bug fix wise hes very fast though.
