outdoor performance setup help!

Hello,

I am in charge of an outdoor performance at a park that has a pretty big open area.... there's no electric outlet so we'll have to borrow or rent a portable electric generator....

we'll have 3 vocals... 1 keyboard, 1 e-bass, 1 acoustic guitar, and a conga (mic-ed)

I"m not sure how many watts we'd need ... We currently have a 1850 Watt Generator... but i'm not sure if that'd be enough...

Does anyone have any experience using a portable generator doing a outdoor gig?

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

You would be safe to run about a 500 (output)Watt Pa system and your instruments, but no other amplifiers from that genny.

Watch out that the noise of the genny doesn't obliterate your sound. Use 12G (20A) cables from the Genny to the stage,
Park the genny on a level surface. Make sure you have plenty fuel.

If you need a bigger system, figure that an amp can draw (input) up to 3x it's output wattage, so if you need a 1000W PA, you need a 3000W generator, and so on.

    Good Luck!
