over my head

I just want to record stories for my grandchild who lives 3 states away. All right I didn't do the tutorial but I've read three stories and see the files as CWP files. How do I get these onto a CD as I have tried burning them but when I play them on a CD player ....nothing.
I think the guy at Best Buy sold me much more than I needed. Sorry to say with a demanding job and classes I'm taking I don't have the time to devote to exploring more with Music Creator3. Can anyone tell this not so computer savy grandma how to make this happen?

    open options/audio at the top of the screen in MC3 and make sure that under playback and record your sound card is listed as the device.

    plug a mike into the mike input on the sound card of the computer.

    Next open an audio track and arm it by clicking the red arm button in the track, then hit record up top and talk in to the mike.

    find export audio from the menu up top and expoprt the audio track into a folder.

    Next burn a copy into a CD or convert down with an MP3 player and e-mail it to them.

    I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!
