You could use a track volume envelope or clip gain envelope to do that. I suggest reading up on envelopes in your user manual and help files to understand the basic principle and usage first.

You can also use v-vocal by right clicking the clip you want louder and clicking on "create V-vocal". When the V-vocal box shows up and fully loads the clip, click dynamics and raise the volume there.

    Hope this Helps

That is, assuming the OP does have V-Vocal.

IMO, V-Vocal is not at all a replacement for a volume envelope. A volume envelope works 100 % safely and is very, very easy to handle. V-Vocal clips quite often cause various kinds of problems, minor or major.

It's fairly common in modern pop productions for the level of the lead vocal to be extensively automated, almost on a word by word basis (sometimes even syllable by syllable!) in order to have the vocal 'sit' exactly right.

For this you need a volume envelope, as Chappel suggests, and be prepared to spend at least a couple of hours working with the track. After you've done this, you'll have a much deeper understanding of how automation works and how to apply it within Sonar.

Tip: the easiest way (in 8.5) is simply right click anywhere within the vocal track (in track view) and select Envelopes > Create Volume Envelope.

Tip: Highlight a section you want to work on and by right clicking, select 'Add Nodes at Selection'. This will place a pair of nodes at either end of your selection, so you can drag the section up/down.
