If the machine is for dedicated audio work I would reconsider getting a graphics card with a fan, it just adds to the noise. You need a second hard drive for serious audio work.

I agree with Guitslinger. - A fanless Graphics card
- A 2nd HDD for all your Cakewalk projects
- A 3rd HDD if you plan on using massive sample libraries
You will also need: - A case
- PSU
- An optical drive
- Software
You haven't mentioned a mouse/keyboard/monitor(s) so I'm guessing you're covered there. Consider mounting all of your internal disk drives into some sort of silent drive enclosure. These guys are pretty good, both for drive enclosures and cases. Antec make a superb range of PSU's. Before you order one, add up the total power consumption of each individual component and make sure you buy a unit that can comfortably handle the load. Or just get a 1000W model. Lastly - backups. You MUST be able to do regular backups. Consider getting a 2TB External drive (or you can get an ordinary HDD and mount it in a special external drive enclosure)

Well I built my first computer last August..... I had a lot of help from the people here on this board so my advice would be to take them seriously..... Here are my suggestions for you: I used the 2600K i7 Quad Core.....Now I am happy with it but.....BUT if I was to redo it again I would of used the i5 version..... VERY VERY close to the same specs....you will get very close (so close you will not be able to tell the difference) to the same performance....same OC ability....all for almost $100 cheaper.... Case after months of thought and research ..... NZXT Phantom...I did black but I see the white is $119.00 at Tiger Direct.... I love this case...lots of HD storage and great air flow, fairly low price, quiet, easy to work in and excellent access to front panel ports..... the only draw backs for me were 1. no USB 3.0 front usb port 2. wiring the fans take a little thinking thru to hook up.....but NOT impossible... 3. I would suggest order an extra front panel fan and maybe an extra top fan....to do this use the NZXT fans...they are non standard...but they are reasonably priced and quiet so not a big expense.....but they are dead easy to install.... 4. case manual sucks! but again if you follow your component instructions and watch some you tube videos this is an easy hurddle to jump.... 5. The HD's take a little effort to get in.....I was not able to install the the way the manual said....so I just screwed them in.....no biggie Hard Drives: Get at least two.....Three is better Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 Hard Drive - 1TB, 7200RPM, 32MB, SATA-3G $60.....I got 5 of them installed in this case......Love them! Tiger direct CPU Fan: Notchua or Zalman......and no need to break the bank.....under $60 and it will provide much needed cooling.... these would be some of my suggestions that I used and am very happy with...... I also built a computer last August based on the i5 chip .... everything cost about $850 or so. I did not need a mouse, keyboard, or monitor so having those parts kept it at that price.
I installed 2 hard drives, one for OS and software and the other, much larger drive is a storage drive for library samples and projects.
case, video card, power supply, MOBO, chips, memory, everything to get it working including the OS software.

You're using a current version of Firefox. this is a known issue with the forum software not being compatible with the last couple of versions of FF.
