I haven't noticed any slowness specific to the last update. However, sometimes projects inexplicably open very slowly, unrelated to which SONAR build I'm running. Usually, it's a Kontakt library that's taking its time, although last night it was a single Waves plugin that was off doing something mysterious while the "W" logo spun onscreen for over a minute. When you experience slowness, is it a) opening a specific project, or b) opening SONAR itself? If (a), does the project load much faster the second time you open it?

Could you maybe have the auto-scan on startup enabled? (Preferences -> VST Settings -> Scan Options)

I doubt this has an impact. VST scan these days is quick and in a seperate process, so it would be slow down project loading, but I second what bitflipper said about Kontakt. Recent version updates of Kontakt changed the loading behaviour and no matter what preferences you apply inside Kontakt, it does block access to Sonar longer upon initial project loading than previous versions did (I think NI believes that there are only SSD sample drives out there).

I wouldn't do that. He meant when you have a project with a Kontakt library in it. If Sonar is loading slowly, my guess is it is being slowed down because something else is making the hard drive where Sonar is installed busy, like Windows Update scanning for new updates, or an antivirus that does a scan after a restart. Try letting your computer sit for 10 minutes after booting before opening Sonar. If it starts up quick, then you'll know that there is something keeping your computer busy and that is interfering with Sonar loading. Dan

Sonar itself always opens in a few seconds for me. Opening various projects can vary with plugins used. I have noticed this behavior with Sonar projects using several SONiVOX plugins that with large sample sets in the saved presets. Mostly Film Score Companion plugins. I have a template project with 5 plugins that does this. Other projects without these particular plugins load in a few seconds. Just get the spinning circle forever before anything loads in the Sonar workspace. Sonar is just kind of a blank space with a menu at the top. Eventually the Sonar screenset shows up, but the plugins are still loading samples. If I monitor with task manager, I can see the disk activity. My 7200 RPM sample drive is locked at 100% activity until everything gets loaded. I can replicate this in Reaper as well. I assume that these particular plugins are loading the samples directly into RAM, so maybe that is the issue.
