please someone help with sidechaining Sonar 8.5

I keep watching this video and i feel like im still doing something wrong. I was wondering if one of the Pros on this site can just create a dummy project and email it to me so i can take a look and see what im doing wrong that i don't get that effect. I asked on the tecnique part of this forum no one wanted to reply so im asking it here. I looked at another video and the guy was adding gate ?? im lost now LOL

I just want a dummy track doesn't matter what syths you use i just want to see how its done like 10 tracks with its own Bus like the video

Create a project with 2 tracks - Insert the Sonitus Gate on Track 2 -- Add a Send to track 1 and choose the Sonitus Side-Chain from the list.

Only a few effects support Side-Chaining. It is a "feature" of VST3 - but Sonar doesn't support VST3

I actually gave a very long and detailed reply to a similar post in the Techniques section just recently.

You might want to do a search for it - it should answer your question(s).

That's a link to the thread.  It was asking about getting a pulsating effect, but the answer I gave in length should address your question as well.

Other than the Sonitus Gate and Compressor that comes with Sonar, there are quite a number of 3rd party plugins that now support side-chaining in VST2 format.

    Voxengo, FabFilter, Density, many others.

Yes, I was just adding that there are other plugins available (VSTs though) that do side-chaining.

I use the Sonitus Comp sidechained all the time. By itself not a problem. The issues arise when you mix and match DirectX and VST in the same chain. I believe one format takes stereo-interleaved stream and the other takes dual mono stream when inserted on a "stereo" track. Occasionally I get a loud pop on playback instantiation - probably some artifact in a buffer somewhere.

Hmm, interesting.  I haven't experienced that.  I did find out that Sonar doesn't seem to let 3rd party plugins work as side-chains with the 64bit Double Precision Engine engaged (either in audio options or during bouncedowns/exports).

But I've had no problem mixing the Sonitus plugins with 3rd party side-chainable VST plugins -- which I do often lately.

Sonar definitely needs to do some work in this area, though, so that there are no barriers to this technique.

Actually - one correction ... I'm not sure I've mixed DX + VST in the "same" chain as you state - so that may be why I've not experienced that problem.
