Wonderful indeed. I like your voice and I like the almost OTT reverb it sounds really nice.
Sounds like a good old fashioned ballad, really good production and tune mate.

I always enjoy listening to your songs, Tim.  This one is a very pretty bittersweet ballad, and the playing and singing are both excellent... as usual.  The only crit I have is that there seems to be a good deal of level variation on the vocal, and there are some points where it seems too far back in the mix.  Best of luck with the cd.

Very nice song.  Remind me more of "Bread" than country, but I am not a country music fan anyways.  Really enjoyed your singing and overall theme of the song.

    Thanks for the kudos guys.

I'm glad you're being converted Tap:)

Hey Adji, what's a OTT reverb?..

Hmm Philz. I don't hear that. maybe it was something i did intentionally. And, if so, then that doesn't count:)

    Thanks Freddy........

Thanks Vechung. Yea, "country" is probably the only "genre" anymore that represents "songs". So, I put it there:)

If you change the title of the thread to "Vibrating Plug" you might get more play? I like this very much but agree it doesn't strike me as Country? I would say easy listening :-) You lounge lizard you!! Or even Shameless Vibrating Plug!! That would really bring um in! You can retain me as your publicist if you'd like? I'm full of more great ideas?

Nothing wrong with a shameless plug if you can not plug your own who will.

Nice stuff not my cup of tea but nice all the same, only crit the verb on the open passage for the vocal is a bit OTT and cuts abruptly 0:33, bit like a gate closing a bit abrupt.

Thanks for the listens robby, wookie, and rrmpub.

    Robby, your hired.

Yea, wook. I listened and the reverb does some weird stuff. The actual wav file is OK as well as the 128k mp3. However, I can hear it starting to deteriorate. But then it hits SoundClik. ouch.

    See, rrmpub says it's country.......

Tim, look forward to your posts, we know whatever the piece is, it'll sound gorgeous. no change here, then! i've just ordered a new acoustic so i hope i can get a bit more of a fuller tone like you always seem to...
anyhow, a fantastic pop tune, almost old-fashioned, but class is timeless. At times i feel the pad synth is a little loud and overwhelming the vocals and other instruments, i may just lower that a tad. (it's almost the verb on that which is the issue, rather than the pad itself, maybe you can just alter the sustain/release assuming the synth has an ADSR envelope?)

like a cup of hot chocolate, smooth, sweet and warming.

    Re:plug 2011/02/06 18:35:18 (permalink)

When thinking of listening to a song here on the forum often times it's like we are
doing so to get feedback, ideas etc to find ways to either say that it's good "as it is"
or someone might suggest a tweak or something. At least for me I don't generally
go into "playing" a song with the mindset like I just turned on the radio.
As if like a radio I already know that "all" that I'm doing is listening and there is not
necessarily a "connection" with that person/artist like there is here on the forum.

When I play/listen to a song "here" I know that I can communicate with that
person and as well "that" person is a part of this community. In your case
on this song the first thing that comes to mind is "happy for you". The song
sounds great and has so much character, emotion, heart etc. When a song is
so well done and mixed, performed etc it allows a person (or at least it does me)
to just sit back and enjoy.

There is no need to think about crits unless there is something that would
"even make me think of that" in the first place. I don't go "looking" for something
to crit. Maybe no one really does anyway, its just that different people are different
kinds of listeners. For example one person spoke of, was it Philz? about the
    variation in vocal level.

That type of remark makes "(me) think about what he said". I on the other hand
heard that but to me it was a part of the "emotional" way in which it's performed/
mixed. It's like hum? I liked it as it is (but) "that is a good point). That is so nice to
"hear" different peoples perceptions on these things. And as an artist having
that communication between the "artist" and other artists who are also "listeners"
    as well.

I just thought I'd mention that as I'm thinking about things, which of course
is another great thing about this forum and the sharing of thoughts and ideas.
After thinking about what Phil said I would think about maybe raising the soft
vocal parts up just a bit and view that as a tweak or enhancement. If the song
were "finished" and there isn't any going back to do so I wouldn't consider that
a drawback because the songs still sounds very good.

I really enjoy this Timi, great job and sounds so nice.

Thanks Alegria, the nylon are samples I found on the web quite awhile ago. Made a Kontact patch and worked it from there. I played it (for real) with a steel string and then tried to duplicate with the samples.

Hey Scotty. Thanks man. Neil Diamond? Ouch.. OK..:)

Thanks Ron. Ok then. the verb stays.

Hey MGH. what a nice comment. glad you like my work.  Good luck with the new acoustic.

Hey Mr. Pogue. Thanks man. yea, stuck in the 70s maybe. hard to shake.

Thanks Geno. Gino Vannelli. Cool. Maybe you just have Geeno on the brain.:)

    Thanks OhGrant

    Thanks gdugan.

    Thanks Mathew

    Thanks elix

Hey Daryl, Thanks man. Yea, I wrote it. This is one that took years actually. Glad you liked it.

    Wow Jimmy.
Lot of typing goin on there. ha ha. Really man, thanks for takin the time to detail your feelings like that. Yea, the tune's done and pressed. I do tend to listen like I'm listening to the radio myself as that's where everyone wants to be, No?
I hope you're feeling OK, all things considered. You don't deserve such trials. I guess we never do. Hang in there and thanks again.

Really nice mix, as is to be expected from you . Vocal processing is a lot more noticeable on this compared to the other tracks of yours I've heard. Nothing particularly wrong with that, just surprised to hear it from you as I thought you weren't a fan of that style of vocal. Nice though.

I don't consider this country very nice, sweet, mellow ballad -

This is one of those songs I hear being played on Dalilah (think I spelled that right)...

It works all around quality and professional recording...

Like a lot of posts lately, and I don't know why, I missed this when you first posted it. I'm on the forums all the time, not sure why I'm missing new posts. Of course, I never go back more than 1 or 2 pages. Probably why.

This is great. I love the song, the way its played, sung, I'm glad it got moved back to the front page where I saw it. :)

Thanks Paulo. I'm not sure what you mean by "style of vocal". I guess you mean, with reverb. You are right. I don't generally like reverb. But, you gotta do what you gotta do.. eh:) I just try to do whatever works for the particular song. As I said earlier, something got screwy with the soundclik transfution. Sometimes I just need all the help I can get and reverb and delay and the kitchen sink helps:)  Thanks for the listen and detailed comment Paulo.

Thanks Mr. bayou. Glad you liked it.

Hey Listen. wow, how'd you get that monicker. Ha! Sorry, I don't know what Dalilah is.
