Good version!  The vocals reminded me a bit of Lemmy for some reason...

I must have liked it, I listened twice!

Yeah the vocals did have a slight Lemmy sound to them. Suited the track well though.

This is a fantastic cover, full of energy and the mix you've done has a sound that captures that era well.

    Top stuff.

Well first off thanks everyone. This was a fun project. It was done a few years back, though.
I guess I should address the mix comments...Thank you. It was fairly straight forward placement of the instruments in their respective spaces.

The Drums ( a few have mentioned they liked them) I labored over these things far longer than I should have...I tweeked and tweeked them till they were passable...so thanks

The guitar comments...well thanks a lot...that was by far the easiest thing to do in this one...

    Thanks Pluto...good job singing, Lemmy!

A song I love to play. I think you did a great job of it. Terrific attention to detail. The downside: now the notion of covering it myself has been rendered superfluous. Well done.

    nice job. really enjoyed.
    ok, now for the nits.
    The vocal maybe a little wide. It's almost 100% L & R.
It started falling apart when the piano came in. I think it's a frequency thing mostly (cut the lows and low mids). the track just seemed to mud up around 2:00. cleared up at the end.

    Ok, suggestion/idea.
    "it's my birthday too" YEA.
    there is no, YEA.
    that's cool.
how about: do the 'Yea' on it's own centered, dry and telephony sounding maybe with an echo. idunno, just an idea.

I agree with Timidi about the piano.  It sounds like it was overdubbed a year later onto the master.  If you can find the right mid-high frequencies and turn down everything below that, it will sit in the mix better.

It's great hearing from everyone and i'm glad you're diggin' the tune!  Hmmm... me sounding like Lemmie?  Well I'm not to familiar with his music, but I'll take it as a compliment,... thx!

A little history behind this collab.  The first version  (instrumental) that 6strings sent me was too high a key for me to hit the high voc parts.  So i asked 6strings if he could re-track the instrumental in a lower key, and he was kind enough to re-track it for me.  It was a pleasure working with him too, top notch.  He sent me the lower key version, then i recorded and mixed my vocs in.  Then i sent it back to 6strings to clean it up a bit.  So there you go, a little background on the tune.

I'll let 6strings comment on any music questions because he tracked all the instruments.

Feel free to keep the comments coming...  I love hearing from all of you!

    Kind Regards,
    Pluto
