Yeah...My wife and I were up half the night, worrying about my daughter. She's going to school in Pensacola, and the hurricane looked like they were gonna get nailed. I talked to her a little while ago. She said it really windy and raining hard, but it appears they're not going to feel the full brunt of it. Flooding is still a concern, though. Prayers are definitely going out to Panama City and everyone else in the direct path. The poor Carolinas look like they're gonna get doused again as well. I hope any for forumites in the area get through it okay.

I have two brothers in Florida. May they get through it safe. Please. And of course other people as well.

My brother the (retired) tax assessor just returned home yesterday to Milton, just north of P-Cola, after being here for the funeral of our uncle. His daughter posted something on FB this morning "I'm not ready for a direct hit! When is it going to turn left?" But it did turn left, so they're getting a lot of rain, as already mentioned. Bracing for more rain here on Thursday. Hopefully not much wind.

Another sad concern is people who don't have insurance coverage for this kind of damage and loss. I really hope that is as rare as I think it is. I can't imagine losing your home and all of your investment too.

Sad to hear. I've been trying to call my dad who lives in Ga in the path of the storm. Can't get through. I suspect it's because electricity hasn't been restored yet. I don't believe it was nearly as bad further inland. Most insurance companies won't insure these properties for flood loss. If you buy near any large body of water in the US, you need special additional coverage, that is, if you can get it at all. There is a provision for govt. money to rebuild in some situations. Not sure how it works exactly.Like everything else that has been taken advantage of over the years. Not always in a good way.
