presets

I want to use some plugs in Sonar 8 that came with another DAW. The plugs show up in Sonar ok, but not the presets. What is the best way to get the presets to show when I use the plugs in Sonar? Thanks!

You might have to open them in the first DAW..... write them down and then open them in Sonar..... use your notes to recreate the pulg presets, and then save them in Sonar.

Yes, I have done that, just hoping for a less time consuming solution, thanks, Milt.

I recently re-created the presets for reacomp. If that is the program you are referring to I can email the saved bank.

Thanks for your generous offer, Musicroom. I figured out how to get the presets to work. If I open say Reacomp in Reaper, and open a preset, then click on the vst button and select save, I can save the preset as fxp and into any folder I want. The dropdown box on the plugin does not work in Sonar, but if I just once again click on vst in the plug ui, and select load a preset, I can get all the ones I had previously saved. Works very well. I have saved a lot for use with Reacomp, ReaEQ, Reaxcomp. I wish I could get Reaverb in Sonar, I like it better than Perfect Space. Maybe they will decide to sell it as a standalone. Thanks again!! Milt,

Are you saying that the dropdown preset menu in Sonar's VST host isn't working for your plugin?

By the way, there are programs that manage presets and plugins for you, across DAW platforms. The one I'm thinking of is from Wusik called WM, but there are also others. Kore from NI is a very expensive version of this, and ships with players for all the NI synths, as well as an extensive preset lib and samples.

Check out Wusk WM on KVRAudio and then download if interested. I believe it's free.

Hey kwgm, well, it does and it doesn't. It works in Sonar 7, but not in Sonar 8. If I save a preset in say Reacomp using the dropdown, and then change some settings in the plug, then open to the dropdown and recall the saved preset, Sonar 8 crashes every time. I've had a lot of problems with 8. If I save a project in 8 that has some Reaplugs in it, and then come back later and try to open the project, 8 crashes everytime, not so 7. I appreciate the tip on the wusik thingy, I'll check it out right away. Thanks again, Milt.
