problem starting up Cakewalk 2002

Just setup new computer running Vista. Loading of Cakewalk went fine, but when I opened the program the timepiece (hourglass for Vista) just keeps spinning. Task manager says program is running, does it take an extremely long time to open the program the first time? Or do I need to upgrade the program, it's Cakewalk 2002.

M/c 4 is set up for vista. Others have had mixed results with older versions, some work, others not so much. m/c 4 is only $40, and there is a world of difference between it and the 2002 version. '02 is, like, 5 years old. That is like 100 years in software years. I think windows 98 was still popular then.
Just joking around here, don't take that all the wrong way, please. But, the part about m/c 4 and vista was for real.
