problem with project not saving the way i left it SOLVED THANK YOU
hi everyone, this is a continuation of issues i've been having. when i save a project like i have forever then come back to it, it opens and looks the same for a split second then switches to something where all the tracks (in the track view) are larger and the real time bar is at the beginning then where i left off. so before i start work i need to resize everything. what could be doing this and how can i make it stop. lately, i've been having so many annoying bugs like this. can someone please tell me what is going on? thanks

I think this is a lens. When you open a project it loads the project data and then applies the chosen lens to it. So the zoom level in the current lens is applied to the project. I would personally prefer it if this and all state data was stored and reinstated from the project which would seem like a more logical approach.
Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

Ever since the introduction of the Lenses feature, I have had to select "None" in the dropdown Lenses menu to get my project screen set ups back to my version of "normal" . . . even though it is already set to "None" . . . this is needed every time I open a project . . . welcome to the club.

If you set your screen the way you like it, then save that as a lens, it will open that way when you start Sonar. You can also select what is loaded and affected by lens in the Lens Manager screen. If you really don't like the features, try making a new lens that has everything disabled in the settings boxes, then saving that. They put the Lens in an easy to get to spot, and right next to the Full Screen button. I actually like it quite a bit. Save a couple lens for your different work flows then they are always a click away.

I appreciate what you're saying SF_Green, though, my experience with the lenses feature has been different. I don't dispute that if you use lenses there are some very useful screen layout presets . . . but for many existing / older projects before lenses were added, you simply can't ignore them or turn it off, you have to manually set them to none, to get back to the proper screen layouts saved with the project . . . I find it annoying.

I respect what both of you are saying. But I have to agree with Noy Nek, The Lens feature has been nothing short of confusing for me and not my favorite feature. Hey I love Sonar but if I have to find 1 thing to complain about, its this feature. When ever I have used it, I find it has created me more problems than helped. I must be fair and say that some of this is due to user error (my own fault) but the other part is that Lenses just isn't user friendly. I honestly believe if they had just revamped Screensets this would have been a huge hit.

a great big thank you all!! it's been a rough few days. other then the sonar issues i uninstalled all my toontrack stuff by mistake. all i wanted to do is remove a trial version of something but didn't know EVERYTHING is connected. what a mess. i agree with anyone who is not too happy with the lens thing. for me, i don't see any use for it. i don't have really big projects, i'm a 3 chord rock and roll guitar player who ocaisionally bangs on a piano, it usually sounds like a 5 year old that needs medication. again, thanks to all. jp

I haven't "clicked" with Lenses either. I suspect there's something useful in there, but that I'll need to spend some time experimenting to find how the feature can benefit me. It might be one of those "you spend a lot of time in prep work, but once that's done, it's easier" kind of things.
