problem with sound card.
hi fellas! im totally new to this and i have some problems.i have sonar X2 producer 64bit and when i open it i get this error.i press use anyway but when i play a loop i have no sound.any ideas?

The first thing that comes to mind is a conflict w/ your internal soundcard (resetting the sample rate - I think - your photo is too small to read well). Disable your on-board soundcard and see if that helps things. If you are using ASIO drivers de-highlight your soundcard, highlight the Line 6. Only one set of ASIO drivers can be enabled at one time, and SONAR wil use the first one up.

im so sorry about the small image.to help you,it says that my drive doesnt support the current audio format or it is in use by another application and it makes me choose to disable it or to use it anyway.i recently formatted my computer and i dont think that the onboard sound card is installed at all.all i know is-like in other daw's-that i use the asio of my ux1.sorry again for being noob.

no problem w/ the noob. We all were there once.
Just be sure the correct driver for the interface you want to use is highlighted and any others ain't. I forget the process - whether the asio highlighted interface moves to the top or not. But open the options>audio>drivers panel (I think that is right - I'm not at my music computer right now) and deselect the wrong driver, select the right one and close down the panel and SONAR. Reopen and see if the correct choice sticks.
What happens when using the built-in soundcard for SONAR etc. is youtube, error sounds etc. in all sorts of formats gets used. A music interface might not cope w/ 8 bits, 16 kHz sounds and other odd formats. The best solution is to have your internal computer soundcard play those sounds while your music interface only does SONAR and other pro music programs. Otherwise they can get confused switching to the odd formats and back.
Some say to disable the internal card completely so it doesn't interfer. But even the ms warnings are in odd formats. If your "you've got mail" sample plays through your music system, it can cause problems. In my music computer I still use the internal card for such sounds, tho the speakers aren't usually powered up (whith some other outboard I don't often turn on). I never missed the bonks and whatnot, esp. through my mains. besides, unless necessary it is better not to have your music computer playing games or hooked up to the internet and watching cute cat videos or porn. All kinds of interrupts as well as having to reinstall from your OS up if something slips by. And it will.

i chose "ASIO" in the driver type,then messed with some other options and when i pressed apply i heard the short sharp distorted sound from my speakers like 3-4 times,muting any other sounds (music,etc) at the same time. (the same when i open the program) then i opened a new project and pressed play with the metronome on and i could hear it.next i opened a drum beat and looped it,pressed play,signal was coming just fine buuuuuuuut..........no sound.also my settings are buffer size 128 KB and depth 32bit.any ideas?

Try WDM driver mode. Make sure the Line 6 actually has 64bit drivers. If they do ,download them and install them. then start Sonar again and run the Wave Profiler in WDM mode. Then try ASIO and WDM driver mode to see what works best for you.

I would suggest trying a driver mode of ASIO, a record bit depth of 24, rather than 32, a sample rate of 44100 or 48000, and an ASIO Buffer Size of 128 - as a starting point.
Please note that your sample rate in Sonar MUST match the sample rate set in your audio interface, AND that anytime you change the settings on your interface, it is recommended that you power cycle the interface, or do a computer restart, to refresh things for the interface.
There is also nothing wrong with trying WDM, as posted by someone above, as in some cases it does work better for a given machine than ASIO.

As we're trying to solve a problem here, it would have been reasonable to tell what it was you messed with. :o) As the suspect #1 is mismatch in sample rate, you have not confirmed what sample rates are set in SONAR and in the interface. What is selected in the recording/playback timing master window and I/O drivers window?
