no not that i know of, I normally dont move the tracks too much and when i do i alwase make sure the "delete previous tracks" box is checked.

also im noticing it skipping a few notes that I know i put in there

Ahhh... the most important question to start with is: What sound card are you using?. Is it by chance the factory sound card? 

 A factory card can do all of the things you are describing and more since it is not designed to handle the amount of data we tend to force though it.  Cake walk stuff is pretty intense stuff, from a data standpoint. And if you have synths, processing the data into audio in real time is not something a factory card is good at. 

Most of us are using after-market "Music Interfaces" ( just a fancy word for sound card) that ARE designed to do one thing..... handle the music data and processing required by the recording software packages we are using. 

Ask questions before you buy one (if you are still on a factory card) so you get the right one the first time. 



edit: don't misunderstand me.... small audio projects with no midi or synths can run fairly well on a factory card..... it is the midi and synths that give it trouble most often.

Depends on what you want and what you have.
There are audio interfaces you can install in the box. Some connect with USB or FireWire, USB being the most popular since almost every computer in the world has multiple USB ports. Mine is a FireWire device.

i seem to have the same problem... I use a dell studio xps, pretty fast computer, and currently using music creator 6, but when i record, i get little wierd popping sounds.. like bad quality cables, except for i know they're not, i aslo tried using a sound card i had, made by creative audigy, but couldnt get it to work correctly. Any hints?? or do i also need to go out there and get a decent sound card, and btw, by computer has HD sounds built in..

Yeah... you need to get a dedicated USB interface (sound card specifically for recording) . The popping is typical since the factory cards are not designed for the massive load we place on them with MC.  Upgraded gamer cards are not any better than factory.


As Beagle said, adjusting latency and buffers, and changing to the MME driver mode can get you going if you are not working on big projects with lots of audio tracks and synths too. A few audio tracks can be done just fine in MME. 


However, to get the full power of MC6...and it is a very powerful DAW, you will need a good interface to be able to tap into all it's power. 


But Oh My, when you do... it is sweet. 

I would not try to buy recording soundcards at best buy or walmart.  if you don't have a Guitar Center near you then I'd suggest buying them online from one of these:

i had some popping and clickings with the factory soundcard.  i bought and continue to use a Lexicon Alpha.  i discovered that once you do some work using the external soundcard is important to connect it every time you're going to work, even if your're going to enter one note.  because when i bought the Alpha i didn't know that it was a  soundcard, (somebody had mentioned it was a pre-amp and that i needed it) i sometimes did work without connecting it to the computer, and then the popping and clickings will start again.  once i understood what it was and what's meant to do i've never have had a pop or click again.
