problems with Windows Vista?

I just bought a new CPU with windows Vista on it. I installed my soundcard and external audio mixer for my microphone. i can hear it just fine in the headphones and even over the speakers, however in sonar 4 the microphone doesn't register on the meter, nor does it record. the mic shows up in "working" condition in the windows recording window. what gives? am i doing something wrong and overlooking something.

Help me please

did you download the vista drivers for your soundcard. Is sonar 4 compadable with vista???? What soundcard are you using. you really need a good soundcard with sonar aznd a sopundcard that has vista drivers available. List your pc specs with your soundcard.
Then well take it from thier.

No, Sonar 4 is not Vista compatible. That's what 6.2.1 was all about. I'm pretty sure they didn't put out a 4.2.1

you dont have a soundblaster do you?? I think you do go into the cards properties and turn off what you hear. you went into the windows mixer, but you need to go into the soundcards mixer/property page thingy.

man, you just spent several hundred dollars on a pro-quality piece of software, now you need to spend a little more on a semi-pro soundcard. also be aware to update the windows vista (see the threads on the sonar forum) to get the best lo-latency wdm performance. WHEN YOU GET A DECENT CARD. also not everyone has vista drivers, ur safe with echo, edirol, motu and rme (i think).

Well I don't know what all your problems are but as far as recording goes you should be alright.

I cant believe you didnt check to see if they had vista drivers before ordering it..now your going to have to pay a restocking fee to return it.. next time research before buying anything. It will save you alot of trouble, if you just take 5 minutes out of the day to look something up....Lesson learned i hope
