putting some percussion in my music

well, replacing the files I lost from the previous laptop is under way.  my masochist self has decided that I should add some drums to the song am reconstructing now.  I never used neither a percussion staff/line or used the drum set.  when I followed the instruction that come with the software I get confused.

for example, the instruction say to open the percussion track dialog window.  when I do that the dialog box or window doesn't have any information for input, output or channel.  I mean, when I click on the lines that scroll down there's nothing there to select.  am I doing something wrong?  tried several things, but since nothing worked can't make my mind on what else to report.

also, in a earlier version of MC there used to be something that I opened up and select the rhythms I wanted and it would play it without me entering any notes.  I forgot how was it called but I believe the word map was in it.  (it such a curse to have a bad memory, but I don't know how to improve it.  anyway, I think is to late for me now I am an old sirena.)

Thanks

Ha! Ha! I found it all by myself.

In the track pane, right click on the mouse.  it gives a long list of options to select, highlight and click on Insert from Track Template.  it gives you another long list of instruments categories to choose from: brass, guitar, percussion, etc.  when you highlight and click on the instrument group, it gives you even a third list of instruments.

I wanted some soft congas for my song, so I clicked percussion congas and a track with the congas pix showed up.  I started placing notes and it sounds great! it so good that when I place the notes on the wrong line or space and roll it to the right place it sounds like if I'm rolling my finger over the skin of actual congas!!!   the sound is produced on the 4th line and 4th space of the staff.  (traditionally, staff lines are counted from the bottom up.)

I'm also going to use the rain stick.

I'm so happy, I could burst!
