"A Finer State of Mind" recorded entirely in SONAR

I recorded Andrew Marshall's new Indie Folk album "A Finer State of Mind" using SONAR and a few plugins in my living room. It still amazes me that modern software and hardware makes recording an album so easy. Even a didgeridoo presented few problems once the mic was surrounded by cushions from the sofa .  As a guitarist, inexplicably my main contribution was banjo on the title track. The graphic in my signature gives a link to selected songs (you'll have to pay to hear the banjo!)

Key lessons learned from the experience: record acoustic guitars using both a mic and pickup; compress sparingly to preserve dynamics; slapback echo gives a cleaner sound than classical reverb; keep it simple for a natural sound; Ozone works well for mastering.

All comments welcome - learning is a never-ending experience.

Cheers, Peter.

Always nice to hear some well-recorded acoustic music -- good job with this.  I wish you guys luck with this project and hope you gain some traction with it.
