"Answer Keeper" Original Song

Hey Guys, This is a recording of an old song of mine. I found myself working on it way too much and never really being satisfied. I decided to post it up and get some feedback to see If and what I should tweak. I'm not supper happy with the guitars but I think i need an objective pair (or few dozen pair) of ears. this is a mix in progress and I'm not against re-tracking certain parts. This was recorded in sonar X into a focusrite saffire pro 24. http://soundcloud.com/dennyp/answerkeeper-m

Denny, I really like this song.  The mix is well balanced, and I can hear every instrument loud and clear.  It has a lot of drive and energy.  The only thing that stood out to me was the way you treated the lead vocal.  On my system it has all the highs and upper mids but none of the bottom frequencies which give it warmth.  If you like this tonal quality, then you might consider double tracking the vocal to make it phat.  Otherwise, it rocks.

    All the best,

Thanks a lot Lynn, I was so worried about muddying up the lows that i might have over done it with the hi-pass filter [;D] Ill let some of the lows through on the vocal.

Good idea, Denny.  Vocals rarely have enough lows in them to compete with a bass guitar or drum.  This is going to end up being "da bomb".

Denny, this is much improved to my ears.  You could still let a little bit of the lows through and nobody would be the wiser, but this will cut through a mix on a number of playback systems quite well.  You sing this well enough to let your voice shine.  Congratulations on writing a good song.

Sounds good, I think I would play around with the vocal doubler on the chorus just to fatten it up, or maybe add harmonies during the chorus. Just some thoughts. Good job.

I started listening with your second post.  I like the song.

It is clean and I can discern each instrument.  It is a fine piece of work.

Sounded pretty good to me - only listening on lappy, so can't really say too much in terms of mix, but I think PGShadow's suggestion is a good one.
