I do like it!
In some places it really does sound like it's an audio version of Escher's stairs.
Good job - have you thought about adding more meat to the bones by bringing in some interesting harmonies with keyboards or other instruments. I can almost hear a really engaging 3 minute track coming out of this.

excellent Rik, and the title is very apt. i don't know but i wonder if you could do some very cool stuff like playing it backwards at the same time as forwards, or with some kinda delay...not that it needs it, but just as an experiment...

captures the vibe of escher, for sure.
i've been a fan of his artwork since the first time i saw it in the late 60's.....
nice recording......i like the way you capture the nylon string attack, without it sounding plasticy or harsh.
granted, some of the melodies sound like practice scales, but put in the context of the whole piece, and the subject matter, they're perfect.
nice subtle reverb...the treatment of the tails is nice.
do you mind sharing settings?
predelay? length of decay? diffusion settings?

Hi BB, thanks for listening, glad you're an Escher fan too. This was recorded on two tracks, one direct and one mic, behringer b5 at the 12th fret looking in to the soundhole. The direct track has a short reverb on it, 9ms predelay, decay just about 700ms damping at 60 % and mix at 25% gives it a bit ambience, panned hard right and left to make it as wide as possible. Mic channel has a little bit of eq, highpass at 60hz and a 2db lift around 7khz. Main reverb has 54ms of predelay, 2.24 seconds of decay, damping at 33%.

Listening to it again seeing as it popped up to the top of forum list again... still liking it, and appreciating the musical 'synergy' with the Escher picture.
I wish I could play guitar as well as you... guess I'll probably have to invest in lessons (and then sell my guitar sample packages).

Really nice Rik, beautifully played and recorded. Big Escher fan too, I've always been fascinated by his work. I used to wonder how the lone monk watching the rest in 'Ascending and Descending' got off the stairs..
