Awesome! Top class all across the board. Everything works great together and is clear in the mix. Cool song, too.

Only nitpick - seems to get "smaller" on the choruses instead of getting bigger. Maybe certain instruments drop out on the choruses? Maybe bring up the drums and the BGVs on the choruses.

I'm sorry... Dave Adkins played the lead guitar licks, acoustic guitar, piano and sang lead vox... The fiddle licks were
lifted from an older tune Dave Sconyers played on... I played the basic tracks and sang the harmony...
    Thanks for listening James...

Thanks Dave... I really appreciate that, and I agree... I'll revisit the chorus... I'm thinking about adding some counterpoint BGVs...

Great tune Frank. I thought you didn't fancy none a that that country stuff......?
Dave did a great job. Nice country voice. I thought it was you. Maybe after 100 years together that's what happens:)

    Here's a nit for you:
    at 1:09 there's a hiccup in the beat. I think a 1 shoulda been a 0...

I noticed Robby picked up on the line:
"even sometimes admit when I was wrong"
that stood out to me also, whatever that's worth. Probably a whole song in that line floatin around somewhere.

Ok, about the chorus. Dave said it gets smaller. I don't hear it gettin smaller, just not chorusy. I think maybe a tamborine'l fix it. And maybe double up the snare with some claps (just enough to give it some snap. I mean it's country, not supposed to be no claps in country I don't think,,,,   Maybe) I also think the snare should come up a teeny bit overall.

Love all them chicken pickin licks.

    Great stuff as usual Frank..
    Probably cause you're cool,,,,,,,,,,, Now.

Yes, that is a cool line... it was meant to convey sarcasm...
We don't wan't to play every night... been there... done that...
One night a week is all I can handle... and oddly enough we don't play any counry music live...

    Hi Frank,

For a guy who claims he doesn't care for country music...

Man, what a great mix. Like always, it doesn't matter what style you're
playing or who you're working with, it still sounds like you...even if you're not the lead vox or playing the guit licks.

    Great, as always.

notnat,   your work is always top notch.    Enjoyed.

I don't like being a critic, but if I had to express my thoughts on this one.
Like I said..........."Top Notch"  very well performed.

In a few weeks I'm going to be helping do a EPK for a "Kuntry" band.
I havn't worked on a studio recording in awhile, I'm looking forward to it.

    Yo Frank,

Real good tears in your beers country number, here. I like the way the rythm section swings, and, the fretwork is sterling.

    Frank,

Another tightly written and performed gem.  Love the mix on this...as to the chorus....it is country so you've got some parameters to adhere to but a deep lower harmony would be in line (Statler bros)...might just give it the step up (especially that last line "She's Gone!").

+1 on doing some additional element to get the chorus delineated better.

Other than that, one of the best I have heard from you, Frank.

For some reason this reminded me of Commander Cody.  Love the harmonies.

Slick guitar work, fits like a glove.  Fits with piano very well.  Very nice.

Well... I'll buck the trend a bit and say that I actually have a criticism. The piano performance is excellent, but I'm not a big fan of the sound. It has the sound of an old band-limited piano sample... you know, sorta soft around the edges. I think something with a little more "pluck" would better highlight those tasty licks. Anyway, personal preference.

    OK, a couple more thoughts...

The vocal is outstanding, but you guys have a couple moments of sibilence there. "I'm ssstill drinkin". "Ssssmokin' sssigaretteSSSS..." etc. :)

The fiddle sounds a little too upfront, IMO, which gives it a sorta "constrained" sound compared to the lush backing instrument mix. Maybe just a touch of panned delay and/or verb to widen it up a bit, make it sit in better with what's going in in the space behind it?

Other than that... fantastic production and execution, and yeah I think definately radio ready, IMO. This is classic stuff. Just good, basic tuneage!

Oh, and on the fiddle, too bad you can't stretch that last note a bit on the outro... it cuts out pretty quickly.

Great job across the board as far as I'm concerned.  Maybe I could find some of the stuff others have mentioned if I set my mind to it, but the overall feel just carried me away.  Great country tune, and really well done.
