"Global" synth patch browser/database?

I was asking on another forum about how to implement a "global" synth patch database that would know all the patches of all my hardware and software synths, and allow me to search them by categories or keywords.  Someone wrote that Cubase has a feature called "Media Bay" that provides this functionality, and they thought Sonar had something similar.  If Sonar does have this feature, then I've missed it.
 
I've got instrument definitions for my hardware synths so I can search for patches by name, and my soft synths each have their own means of browsing/searching their patches.  But I'm not aware of anything that would collect information about all the patches from all my synths and put them in a single, searchable database. 
Does anyone here know about such a thing?

You can put them in a spreadsheet. If you don't have Excel, you could use the Open Source spreadsheet application. The you can sort and search them on any field. Something like this: 

Patch #     Patch Name    Synth Name     Patch Folder     Category     Description


Getting the list of patches from Dimension Pro for example would require you to print the file names from the folder and then cut and paste them into the spreadsheet. It would be a lot of work and that's why I haven't done it. I have literally thousands of patches.
