"Heaven", a newer one that's a bit different

https://soundcloud.com/ba...w-bats-brew-album-stay

this song is one that i co-wrote with John R. Hazel, a wonderful collab that just kind of appeared out of the ether, sort of like the vibe of the song.
this one has some wonderful deep powerful synths, that i tried to mix in such a way as to not overpower everything, but still sound rich and deep IF you crank it thru a full range system.

lyric:

Heaven
as I lay me down
I see the stars
if I knew how big the universe was I could see
just how far the human soul can travel against time and space
then I’ll know what drives mankind to seek an everlasting life
eternity
just beyond my will to see

Stars, distant yet so clear, wrap me in my world

find.... all of the souls, I miss, and need
heaven sought and heaven gained
but when you’ve left, it stays the same
looking for an answer but it is gone.

    hey js!

    well, when i write songs,
i typically hear them complete almost right away....
and if i had heard drums on this one, it would probably already be there,
albeit not as good as an actual drummer could provide...
i'd love to hear the idea, all the same,
sure i can send a wav for you to mess with,
    pm me your email......

hey bassjoker, yes, gets the mind flowing........ exactly.

well, that's usually the intention, anyway,
glad it translates to phones, i always check em on several systems, including my tracking phones, mixing phones, and earbuds...
    monitors, loud and soft,
and usually my home stereo too.

    HIGH TIME....
those are real bongos, just an old school recording without click, but multi tracked.
    that's why the meter's a bit wonky!!
    LOL

    but i embrace the wonkiness

    hi philz!
    yes the synths rock.

    wookiee wrote all the music,
    then offered a collab...
i put on all the guitars in a 'instrumental version' first..
then expanded it to include lyrics and melodies......most of which are following the melodies already implied or written in john's composition

    hey john,
i still like your original mix of just the synths, before my additions, the best...
i felt like i had to take some of the teeth (and rich bottom end) out a bit, to get the mix to work with guitars and vocals, and fit in with the 'sound' of the rest of the album....
i labored over those decisions, because i really didn't want to change a thing...
but i realized that the hyper-extended frequency ranges of all the different synths were so out of character with the mastering of the other songs, that it had to be molded into a similar shape, sound frequency wise...

Yeah, I remember the instrumental version of this...    Wow, it's progressed!   Nice job with the vocals, they add a bit of classic prog feel to it.   I'd also be curious to hear what drums under the second half might sound like.

    Nice.
I listened at medium volume on my D5's:

Like the intro. Sub lows are perfect.
    Killer guitar riffs and panning.

Vocals are performed really well but:Vocals are too soft and have too much sibilance IMO. They sound too compressed - too small.

    Hey bats,

Different is an understatement. Really liked this one. Are you and Wookiee gonna have a battle of the synth moods now?

Synths, that's what's been missing! Wookie + Bat, a dream collab.

Not that your previous body of work hasn't been excellent, but this could take the Bat's Brew brand to the next level. I hope this will be the new direction for your next album.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
