Rik, Good to hear you playing again. Very enjoyable listen. Too short though, had to have a few listens through to get enough of it:) I would buy a CD of your music and listen all day at work.... Regards

Hi Dan, thanks for listening. I almost gave up playing, sold my classical guitars, had a sulk, listened to what Django could play with two fingers , decided to start again. I bought a really easy playing Ovation with extra light strings and plan to keep playing until the Neuropathy shuts me down ; ) Rik

Hi John, thanks for listening. Luckily my hands are not as bad as my lower legs. So far I can still use my index and middle fingers and a bit of my left hand ringfinger. Rik

Rikkie, you do more with those three digits than I could do with all the fingers and toes of me, my wife and my dog. This is very beautiful work, and yeah, it's too short. Please keep at it, and when you can't play anymore, keep writing and hire somebody to play it for you. Music's in the heart, not in the hands, and you've got it, sir.

I like the length, but it ended at a point that you could launch a C section or another *mini-movement*. Personally, I think some people are obnoxious expecting their listeners to wade through their compositions. I remember many, many concerts that I wanted to end by intermission because the composing was so obnoxious. Of course a great composer can keep an audiences attention for much longer a period. That's my goal ultimately, but if one feels he can't do it, don't just fill your score with dots for 20 minutes. I have a recommendation, if you're a professional. Write a solo guitar version of this where the melody is along the top strings(?) There's a good market these days for solo (classical or jazz) guitar works. Those compositions, except with great rarity last only 3-6 minutes.

but, because you have specialized knowledge of the guitar, you can write for it. Modern chamber music for guitar is virtually non-existent. Cheers!

Sorry to hear of your problems. My brother whose a guitarist has had operations for carpal tunnel and has almost given up with the guitar, although not the same I can relate to your frustration. As for the music the guitar has been beautifully recorded and I could listen to this for hours. What mic did you use to capture it?

Hi eph, thanks for the suggestion, I would have to learn to read and write music notation first ; ) Hi Biodiode , thanks for listening, I intent to keep playing until I run out of usable fingers ; ) Glad you like the tone because I didn't use a mic, I plugged my Ovation electric/acoustic straight in,with a bit of eq and compression and reverb. Hi voda, thanks for listening, glad you find it to short ; ) Rik

Very nice work, Rikki. The backing chords are almost identical to those in Gonard's Ave Maria. Is this tune a take-off from that one? Just a guess due to the song title.

There's nothing new under the sun. All new, original works are isomorphic. I'm still waiting for post modern music and no, phil glass aint it. Glass basically built on rothko. I haven't a clue why he's so successful.

Very nice... Are both tracks the Ovation? The lead sounds like one, but the backing part sounds more "round'. Either way... good stuff! I can't imagine what you're going through at the moment, but @#$%, this sounds like someone who is comfortably in the zone!

Hi Steve, thanks for listening. Both tracks are the same Ovation, but with different eq's so the lead part has more mids so it stands out a bit more. Since I can't fingerpick anymore I have to play arpeggios with a pick ,which is quite a good exercise ; )
