Hey Bat Really clean full sounding mix. EXCELLENT performance. Being a Hillbilly myself I have been asked by one of my Tennessee relatives if I want a swig of some "SKUNK PI$$" LATER Kev

Bat - Great job! I love the song and sounds. This sounds perfect on my NS10's. A bit bright in my cheap cans. So nice to hear this work. What mic did you use on the vocal and acoustics? Rimshot

DRUMSTIXKEV thanks man, appreciate it. enjoy the skunk piss heheh bayoubill glad you dig this one.... any comments on mix elements? i'm trying to decide if i like this approach i took, or not. rimshot i'll post an alternative mix..... see if that one sounds better on the same system.. the acoustics were exceedingly simple to record... using the mic, i just get up fairly close to it, point it towards the 12th fret, and go. i'm running the ksm44 into a ART DPS on this, hitting 0db on the VU, and then thru a DBX compressor to 'color' the sound, and just touch it with compression. i record the taylor once, pan it hard left, record it again and pan hard right, and then do the same again, using the Seagull Mosiac, one left, and one right. so, basically there are 4 seperate guitar performances all doing the same thing. LOL that's why it sounds thick, and at times, phasey, but there is no fx on the guitars, except some reverb. the electric solo guitar, has my yamaha DG stomp in the fx loop of the boogie, and i play wet and record it straight off the cab, with no fx added later. that gives me the most organic sounding delay (i'm using the 'tape' delay setting on the Stomp) the Seagull track is hotter in the right channel than the left, to balance the fact that i panned the solo guitar mostly to the left, when the vocals are going. that's why you hear the dual guitar effect more in the right. i had to do this to get a good spectral balance and level balance between the left and right sides.

Soundin' good, Gonzo. Love the acoustic tone and feel. Shades of that old Doobie Brothers tune..." Oh, Black water, keep on rolling..." but that's a good thing. Nice work... as always.

Fantastic sound Bats, love the acoustic tone. It's very polished already, mix sounds terrific, but it does have the feel of an extended intro to me; are you planning anything else?

Love clicking on your name when a new song pops up, always awesome and this is no different. Felt it kicking into Boston, More then a feeling at times. I too felt a drum and bass ready to enter and think it may not be a bad idea. Cian

RIMSHOT you're welcome. drums and bass, no, i don't think so. i think this will stand as is. it needs to stay simple, to capture the simple vibe. daryl hehe, i have enough full force rockers, i needed some balance in my life. i've got a real aggressive thing going on right now, i'm working on..... Lynn thanks man, that's a nice thing to say

Sounds pretty dang great to me ! Hey did you get the ideal for your song from the discovery TV show MOONSHINE ? I watched it a few times on TV when it was on channel 7 in my area which is Discovery , some of your lyrics sort of reminded me some of what I was watching in MOONSHINE just wondering . Sounds good ! PHILZ thanks man. i dig playing the acoustic, it's just raw and immediate. black water..... i remember that tune.... kind of rolling rhythm, almost like a round-robin type song...cool tune. jamesg1213 thanks for listening, glad you dig the tones. i'm not planning anything else to this, i'll live with it a while and see if that changes. my idea, was to have kind of a lazy laid back vibe, that just captures the moonshine buzz. it's supposed to just pick you up and carry you along for a while, then drop you off. whack cool man, more than a feeling......! LOL i only need brad delp. heheh i could totally wind this out with a full band treatment, i don't know, maybe i'll try a 'roots rock' treatment, one gritty guitar, bass, and a garage band drum sound, and see what happens.

bapu that picture is classic,,im not even going to go there..lol..very funny though..one thing to see the broomstick bass(more like tree limb) but the dog throws this pic over the top..the pine tree as well is not helping me from crying im laughing so hard. now as for the song, this is really good brew, the thing that really sucks me into it is the hypnotising jerry cantrell type harmonies. and acoustic guitar sound, that stuff is right up my alley.love it. the mix is really good as well though im sure its a rough mix i did hear some artifacts around 1:05 (maybe a punch in) and the lyrics i think could be a small(very small)bit more planned out, written a little better.but i am a knit picker im sure you can tell. would sound nice kicking into a heavier part as well... o no.hear i go trying to re write someone elses song in my head, sorry hommie ! nice job.really liked it.

chuckebaby jerry cantrell, you know, i should use that as a touchstone more often...really dig AIC and cantrell solo, and one of the reasons are those harmonies. i didn't think about that at all, but if i had, i probably would put more minor harmonies in, and more 7ths. LOL there aren't any punchins anywhere, but i DID do some clean up of waveforms.... but i'll go back in soon, with all the comments and new ideas, and re-mix this thing, and i'll look for anything that may create a 'glitch' effect. it's not a rough mix, i never do rough mixes. i just mix. and change my mind! heheh i really do want a loose feel to this. i want it to feel a bit carefree, buzzed, wandering, a bit un-focused. hey, thanks for the comments, i appreciate it!

mgh thanks man. as much as i dig electric, same for acoustic. warren appreciate the listen.glad to know it's translating. i'll mix this one fully, again. i've gotten so many good ideas to improve the mix, i'll take another stab at it.
