"Out of Memory" message drag an mp3 into a track

I just installed X1 pro to my new laptop which has 64 bit windows 7 with 4 gig of memory. When I try to drag an mp3 to an audio track I get an out of memory mox that pops up. Also if I try to drag in a wav, It just sits forever "busy" and never draws out the wav or finishes loading. I have never had this prob on any other pc... any ideas?

Not really. I'm able to drag and drop MP3s and WAVs and even some really large WAVs without memory issues, although I do have 8GB. 4GB should be enough though.

    Here's what I'd do:
     - Try some different MP3s and WAVs. There's all kinds of different formats and maybe yours are not compatible.
     - Check the Windows Task Manager and see how much free memory you have. Maybe something else is using up all your memory
     - Go to Computer - System Properties in Win7 and see what's your Experience Index.
     - Did you change your computer's paging file size?

If I remember correctly, Noel [Cakewalk] said SONAR uses built-in Windows MP3 decoder. It's the decoder that throws the Out of memory message, not SONAR.  I have seen the same message many times when trying to import various mp3 versions.  Workaround is to convert mp3 to wav outside SONAR.

Your other problem: if waveforms remain 'busy', try clearing Picture Cache folder. It may help.

The last time I saw this problem it was because SONAR (as with Windows Explorer, Windows Media Player and many other applications) does not yet support ID3v2.4 tags. ID3v2.3 tags are OK.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
