"Play it Again" - Collab w/ Warren, Mark Cline & Eva
Hey Been absent from the forum lately - life's got in the way of music. But I've missed y'all and hope you're getting ready for a good turkey day tomorrow. I had the priviledge of getting Warren, Mark & Eva to help me take the scrappy bones of a quirky little psychodelic blues rock song and turn it into something awesome. It's rough, it's raw, it's weird... and I hope you like it as much as I do! Warren put a great amount of effort into finishing up his vocals right before he went in for major surgery, so gotta give props to my man for knocking it out of the park. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11240447 All input, feedback and suggestions are welcome!

My suggestion is that the drums need to be changed. At least in the begining before r-guitar comes in. It feels like it needs some sink-o-paytion. I like the vocals.

Mmm, nice. Got a Cream feel going on in places. Cool riffs throughout, moody keys and the arrangement is very creative. Love the backing vocs from Eva,very cool. Something's not quite right with the drum pattern in the blues sections though, needs to swing a little more there. Great vocals Warren, really soulful stuff.

Wow thanks so much to each of your for taking the time to listen and comment! I can't tell you what a pleasure it was working with Warren, Mark & Eva. It was very interesting to see where this tune ended up compared to how I was originally envisioning it - they definitely took it to a better place! I understand the comments about the drums in the blues sections and will see what I can do, but it was hard to give that right feel with the programmed drums. I couldn't quite get them the way I wanted & I'm not sure I'm good enough at drum programming to get 'em where they need to be.

Hey Dave looks like we're all making a comeback... Lovely feel to this, yes a bit more shufflin' on the drums on the intro it's somewhere between straight and a shuffle just now. I'm getting a Cream type vibe, I think that's Warren channeling a bit of Jack Bruce vocally, Eva sounds great as do Mark and yourself. Yeah this is working.

Hey, Dave, I almost missed this beauty, I'm really glad I scrolled down the page! This is spectacular! You guys did an amazing job moving in and out from smoky Kansas City Blues to almost a progressive rock sounding verses and beautiful harmony layered sections. Warren and Eva's vocals were dynamite, the guitars were nice and punchy, and the drums and bass sounded perfect together. The mix was totally pro sounding all the way. Fantastic job by all four of you, great stuff! Bob

Nope, Cream were never this good! (And I heard them live - a number of times - I wonder how may other people here can say that - darn I feel old!). This is smoky, down in the dirt blues - as good as it gets. Love it.

Guys (& gal!) - I was having a tough morning, and I can't tell you how good it was for my soul to pop in and see these comments. I'm so thankful for your support and that you got some enjoyment from this song! Warren's singing was superb, and Eva throws in some classy, smooth vocals to contrast the dirty, grimey blues of Mark's leads. It's the blend of styles you just can't get from doing a song solo. Thanks again to each of you! I wasn't thinking Cream when I wrote it, but they are definitely an influence of mine.

I'm gonna bump this for Dave. I know he's been busy and I think this got to the back pages a bit prematurely. I enjoyed playing with Dave, as usual, and it was fun trying to mix our lyrics into a viable arrangement. Nothing ever has to be done to his musical tracks when we receive them. So, this bump's for you, Dave!

dlogan, Great job on the song, vocals and guitars! I also hear Clapton in this. For the drums, I agree Jonbouy about the "straight vs. shuffle" feel in the verses (drums are straigh, guitar is shuffling). I too like the blues and rock segmants. Sorry I missed this the first time around! Rimshot

Awesome rockish blues, vocs and guitars, smooth organic and refreshing on all levels. 2:10 and 2:30 sections are ultra-sweet. Choirs are to die for -- hahah! You've captured soul pinings here on so many sweet levels ... TBH (respecting all blues artists), I think this is the best blues piece I've ever heard due to its 'outlandish investigation' on deep levels.
