--------------------------------------------
wounded by a violin in heat tasting of the rain
i became the aperture; i became the iris

with no colors save the greys
and the only stains are fades
giving way to just a blank page

now and then it blows my mind
forward, play, stop, rewind...
reverse

forward, march! another taste. this time
a little taste of spain remained inside me
with its eyes gouged out.

i remember all the veins
(you know i used to name my veins)
i named them after the apostles

now and then it wears me thin
slows me down and puts me in...
reverse

Daren!  You human beings are at your very best when the chips are down, or when you're producing music like this.  This is a musical stew of Revolver meets Alice in Chains meets Led Zeppelin.  The backward percussion takes me back to my youth.  Your lyrics are in a league of their own.  How come you're not recording Imogen Heap?  The two of you would be a match made in heaven.  Anyway, my hat's off to you!

    All the best,

Hi Daren, I like this, a lot. maybe experimental but it certainly works. Vocals, lead, could be a bit louder, very nice lead guitars .

    hey thanks guys :)

Imogen...yeah i love her- her creativity and enigmatic blend of styles kinda has no parallel... nice to hear you bring her up, Lynn.

cool Rik- indeed i may have set the vox in the soundbed a bit too much esp in the verses, but i was kinda going for that low-fi sound eg Lennon's 'Give Peace A Chance' which i think was recorded live at Lennon-Ono's "bed-in" bedroom with just a room mic or two

also Lynn i noticed a few have noted the 'Revolver' homages - that is one of my fav Beatles albums

    excellent feedback- gracias

I've suspected it all along but now I can say you are truly a freak!  Of course, that's good!  Daren, this is a combo of a lot of elements like I think you said.  Kept me interested the whole time.  I will say this is my favorite of yours.

Everything I was thinking of saying has been used already--particularly the Beatles/Led Zep idea.  I like it a lot.   Interesting, psychedelic lyrics.  I'd like to hear them a little better, but I also think bringing them up more might hinder the mix and spoil the mood.  Groovy tune.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

yeah i was kinda goin' for that low-tech mood in the verses - like in the beginning of 'give peace a chance'

Awesome track! Very creative mix, muted vs clear tracks. Lots of stuff going on but not incoherent. Great work!

just a lot of layers w/ delay, chorus, tape echo, ping pong, to contrast the dry low-fi verse mic sound

ROCK OPERA!  Love the vocal/harmonies IMO the star of this piece.  The guitar riffs are very cool.  A lot going on but the mix has space and sounds GREAT on my end. I do hear the Beatles/Zeppelin vibe, indeed. Excellent job/experiment.

Very trippy - lots of interesting ideas here. I'd like to hear the vox a little further forward. I love the way you go to the trouble of recording proper drums and then mash the hell out of them  - that's dedication for you !
